Wrong advice given by Seller Support regarding return of different item
Buyer purchased a sealed control board for a furnace on 1/22.
On 2/3 buyer opened a return and sent the following message:
Return Reason
Doesn't fit
Details
Furnace still did not work. Found out it was something internal within the furnace. Furnace is being replaced.
So this now means that the control board is no longer sealed and has been used.
On 2/21 we received a control board that was different than the one that was sold. I immediately called Ebay support and was told to let Ebay auto refund. Apparently this was the wrong information. I should have refunded 50%. It was refunded in full on 2/26
We also reported the buyer and provided pictures showing the incorrect control board was sent back. We contacted the buyer showing the photos of the incorrect returned control board.
On 3/14, We received a message from the buyer saying they did return the incorrect item and they would like to send the correct one back. They have been so busy. We once again contacted Ebay. Since the correct one has been removed from the sealed package and used, it can no longer be sold as new and we cannot guarantee it would work
Ebay said to tell the buyer to reimburse us. The buyer is refusing to send us a check for $165.
Ebay has gone dark on this and they have refused to reimburse us for $165 even though a US based rep requested that we get refunded.
Its a shame that even though the buyer admitted they sent the wrong item back, Ebay will not back a long time seller.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for your imput.

·1 year agoYou received the standard, usual, incorrect information from eBay overseas support.
NEVER, EVER allow eBay to do a refund on your behalf.
Doing the 50% refund would have been the best you could do even with eBay not refunding the FVF's.
