Why does eBay allow returns
When I create a listing there is a setting that asks if you accept returns. I put NO. In my listing I put ask all questions prior to purchase because I don’t accept returns. Then eBay sends stuff back and takes the return shipping money. **bleep**? I believe in a free market. If a seller continually is deceptive in their listing it will reflect in their ratings and buyer be were. I make every effort to create through listings with accurate pictures. That said I have accepted a few returns because I made a listing error and it was pointed out and the buyer was correct. Therefore I felt I should have the buyer return the item for a full refund including the shipping. But then there are people that just change their mind and want a refund. But the listing said no refunds. It is about to make me just throw the stuff I have listed in the trash and close my account.
I have similar complaints about selling to other countries. I don’t want to. But yet my transaction summary says I had to pay an extra fee for selling to another country. But I don’t want to. I want to sell only to my country and keep that fee. **bleep**?

·6 months agoHi, Agreed with ALL. eBays' MGB (Money Back Guarentee) makes "no returns" meaningless. Accepting an ocassional return is just a part of doing business & is done in most venues. You just have to be as descriptive as possible with your listings to keep your returns to a minimum. IMHO Of-Course.

·6 months agoThat choice of no returns only applies to cases where the buyer just changes their mind and no longer wants it. Cases where it's not as described or arrived damaged, returns are still allowed no mater what box you check. No such thing as no returns when selling here.

·6 months agoMost of us would never consider shopping at a venue where the sellers are allowed to refuse to accept returns. Think about it: If you made a purchase from me, let's say an expensive piece of jewelry, and what you received was a beat up old plastic necklace, how happy would you be if I refused to accept your return, and thus refused to refund you?
Most sellers, I believe, want happy buyers and those sellers are probably just like you, making sure their descriptions are accurate, packing well, shipping quickly.
And, per the eBay MBG, which you've no doubt read, the buyer is the one who decides whether or not the item is as described.

If they did not they would be a much smaller selling venue.
I have been ripped so many times that I did not purchase anything for nearly 10 years. I only started purchasing again from eBay sellers when the Money Back Guarantee and the retaliatory Negative Feedback policies were implemented.
If eBay wanted to grow as a business they had to come up with Trust in the venue. If people do not trust in the venue then it may fail.

Looked at one listing, photo showed damage to the box, but nothing mentioned in the AI description.
You need to mention any damage or defects in your description.

Is that amount larger or smaller than what you'd lose by throwing away all your inventory?
Do the math and I bet you'll find the problem isn't nearly as big as you think it is.
Selling is a NUMBERS GAME. If you aren't willing to stand behind your products, either find better products, or find a different way to make money.
Sellers who refuse to allow returns are what make buyers skeptical about shopping here. If you feel that you are in a tug-of-war game with your buyers, maybe it's your attitude that needs adjusting. Be an advocate for your customers and it will pay for itself in spades.

·6 months agoYou have been on eBay for quite awhile now. By this time, you need to understand that eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers tops your "no returns" policy every single time.
