Who pays shipping on the return of a defective item?
I am looking to buy a $300 item from China. I am skeptical, but the item is not available in the US. He accepts returns, but the buyer must pay the return shipping and forfeits the original shipping charge.
Is that true even if the item is defective?
A few years ago I sold something and the buyer claimed it was defective. I would have had to pay the return freight (and I expect he would have made it defective...) so I just abandoned it and refunded his money. So again, who pays for return shipping on a defective item?
