Who pays for this return?

Here is my return policy:

30 days returns. Buyer pays for return shipping. If you use an eBay shipping label, it will be deducted from your refund amount.

Buyer opened a return on a costume and reason given was Doesn't Fit

I shipped this by USPS Ground Advantage but it is coming back by FedEx

So who is paying for this? eBay told me I pay because it is within 30 days but it's a remorse reason so I was under impression buyer paid?

I mean, that reads to me as the buyer is paying for the shipping. They could have been offered the FedEx option when purchasing a return label for the order through the return request or they may have gone outside eBay, but I don't see any reason you would be expected to pay for it or even necessarily a way for you to do so.

As far as I know, you should have had the opportunity to send the buyer a shipping label for the return ... a shipping label where the buyer will be charged for using it. [I'm not a seller, so am going by numerous posts that have described the process ... as well as my own return experience as a buyer.]

[In my experience as a buyer ... the return label I'm sent for a remorse return costs more than one I can buy myself on PayPal, so I I buy my own. I have to pay for the label up front in order to use it. I then have to enter the tracking number into my return request so that eBay and the seller know it's being shipped.]

I would assume that your buyer purchased their own FedEx shipping label ... AND that you will refund them the cost of the item + original shipping when you get it back. There's no way that you would be expected to pay for a shipping label the buyer purchased. Nor would you even have a way of doing that in eBay's return process.

When and how did eBay tell you this? Did you actually contact them and ask? ðŸ˜‰

I used the call me back feature and they looked at the case and said yes you will pay because you offer 30 days returns.

OR they may have discovered that it was cheaper returning with FedEx than USPS. I think a Priority Mail label is what is sent to buyers.]

Just for our amusement ... did the eBay rep happen to tell you HOW you would be paying for a label the buyer already purchased and used? ðŸ™„ [Gosh, I hope this isn't some change we just haven't been told about.]

According to them I agreed to a FedEx label, even though I sent it with USPS Ground Advantage.

But since when is there a way for a seller to refund more than what the buyer originally paid? I'm confused. ðŸ™ƒ I can't believe eBay suddenly can withdraw money from a seller's payment source during a return.

I think they gave you wrong information.

For "30 day buyer pays return shipping," you don't pay return shipping! And if you charge separately for shipping in your listings, you don't have to refund original shipping either.

If ebay supplies the shipping label, the cost of it is automatically charged to the buyer (deducted from the refund) by ebay.
