When buyer pays return shipping but item is not as described
Bought an item on ebay. Item is a tool that won't start and is not as described. Listing states buyer pays return shipping. If I end up returning the item, how should I proceed in order to make sure seller covers return shipping cost? Thanks.

OP8 months agoThis case just seems to be excessive. Tool did not work. Seller didn't respond when we told him it didn't. My dad who is somewhat of a mechanic figured out what was wrong and got tool working but there was no way it could have run as it was. So wondering what the seller was thinking or not thinking. Anyway, I think we'll keep it but leave appropriate feedback. Thanks!

OP8 months agoSold as used but described as tested and working which my dad says there was no way the tool would have run as it was.

·8 months agoWhen a buyer receives an item that is not as described, he has 30 days after receipt to open the NAD case.
Find this transaction in your purchase history. Check the box that says something like "want to return it". For reason, use "not as described".
Your seller has 3 days to respond. He can either send you a prepaid return label which also has a time limit, refund you without requiring a return, or ignore your request.
If it's #3, on the 4th day, you return to the case and request that eBay step in. They will refund from the seller's funds and tell you to just keep the item.
After all of this, how about taking some time to read the Money Back Guarantee? For instance, you will learn that a seller cannot require the buyer to pay return shipping if the buyer opens that NAD case and follows up appropriately.

OP8 months agoThanks, I figured. I just wanted to make sure I do things right as it appears seller defrauded another buyer who didn't do the return quite right.

·8 months agoPlease make sure that you do the return right, although I don't understand how a buyer could not do it right other than waiting too long to open a case or opening the wrong kind of case.
PS: I gather that in the 15 years you have been here as both a seller and a buyer that you've never had occasion to use the MBG as a buyer, nor apparently had to deal with cases as a seller. And your FB is terrific! Congratulations!
