USPS label charged but didnt use the label
I recently sold two table saw mounts that weighed less than 2 pounds combined. I had an option to buy a USPS shipping label and thought, that's great I don't have to drive into town and can mail this from my house. Ebay did not show me the price of the label until after I clicked on it. When I clicked on the USPS label, the price came back at $42 and was automatically deducted from the $55 sale price. After the Ebay seller fee, I was entitled to 42 cents. Laughable! I then took the package to the Post Office myself and shipped it for $13. It has been 3 months and ebay still has not returned my money for the un-used shipping label. I also canceled the label for a refund, but still no refund. Any suggestions?

OP4 months agoWell, this afternoon is the first I've seen any movement on this since posting. "Payment status: Refund initiated". I still have no idea why it's taking this long. Ebay is garbage these days. It's not what it was 5-10 years ago. I won't sell anything else moving forward. Appreciate the replies.

·4 months agoIt's not that eBay is the garbage these days. It's because USPS has to be sure that someone doesn't use the label, even after the refund was requested.

·4 months agoWhen being refunded for unused postage from the USPS, you never receive a message or notice that the refund took place...it just happens, so you do need to look for it

If this is about the item you sold on Febuary 4, it has barely been two months. It has been nowhere near three months.
When you buy a label from eBay, the price is always visible to you before you buy the shipping label. There are no post-purchse surprises unless you aren't paying attention. The reason why it cost so much is because of the weight and dimensions that you entered, either when you bought the label or when you created the listing. It is also possible you had one of the surcharge options selected, like irregular package. When you took it to the post office they measured it accurately. You still paid more there than you would have on eBay, if you had entered the correct information.
If you cancelled the label, selected a reason, and his submit, you typically get a refund in about 3 weeks. It could take a month. Look carefully at your February and March statements to make sure it was not refunded. If you had a negative balance, any refund would have gone to pay off the balance first.
The label also could not have been used. If it was ever scanned, you won't get a refund.
