USA Seller - wants item shipped back to China
I purchased some socks from a seller based in the U.S. The postage was created / shipped from CA, USA.
They did not fit, and one pair of the 5 was defective. The seller directed me to send the socks back to China - even though they were shipped from CA. Return shipping for 7 ozs is approx $50.00 to China. I contacted the seller about this with no reply. I want to return the socks - but the total purchase was around $16 USD, and I am certainly NOT sending these back to China. What recourse do I have?

·3 years agoI have run into this same situation before as well. I purchased a pair of boots from a seller located in New Jersey. They were defective and seller wanted me to return them to China. They also offered an exchange but told me that they would be shipped from China. I said no and had to escalate the claim. You need to get eBay involved. Make sure customer service understands that you made a USA purchase.

·10 months agoI have encountered the same exact problem. I told the seller I need the same New Jersey address they shipped the item from and that I would not ship it to China. If they do not provide the New Jersey address, I will go ahead and ship an empty envelope to myself and when tracking shows item received, I should get a refund from E Bay. I'll let the seller initiate a dispute with E-Bay.

·10 months agoYou mean, ship an empty envelope back to the seller, right? Surely that was a Freudian slip!

It’s more like jeffvan1 wants a refund on a return, the seller is in China. So jeffvan1 thinks if they mail an empty package to their own address that a refund would occur. Not going to happen. Since tracking will show it originated from the buyers zip code and shipped back to the buyers zip code. Sounds more like mail fraud to me.
