Unable to talk to a reasonable eBay human being Assistant when dealing with an unreasonable buyer
Summary: blessed247* shared their frustration about losing a dispute with an eBay buyer who claimed an item was not received and then reported it as defective. They felt unsupported by eBay, which issued a full refund without returning the item. ryry-jj suggested accepting returns without argument to regain the item and relist it. kensgiftshop emphasized the importance of quickly accepting returns and providing shipping labels, as eBay prioritizes buyer satisfaction. albertabrightalberta explained that responding directly to eBay claims rather than trying to communicate externally with the platform is crucial to prevent unfavorable decisions.
Help! *** I dealt with a THIEF buyer. She opened #1 case saying "item not received". Tracking showed delivered. Then she opened up #2 case: "Item defective" i quote her: "there’s very light crazing present with the use of magnifier" Item sold as a USED item. Unable to "talk to eBay"-AI eBay gave her a full refund for this $150 item(lost $20 on shipping too!) So i basically paid this lady money to steal my item. Unbelievable eBay sides with cheats/criminals. They ended the appeal saying I didnt respond. I overly responded and it's right there. I trusted eBay to protect me. eBay used to take care of sellers like this. The least they could do is to have her send it back to me, or have me give her a shipping label to send it back to me! Anybody else have this problem?

·1 week agoNo...well yes. Buyers have been cheating me out of money and stealing from me since the MBG started in 2008.
You still have to play by the rules.

Instead of responding to case #2, it sounds like you tried to "talk to Ebay" to plea your side rather than actually responding to the case with either a refund (without return) or a shipping label for the buyer to return the item.
Trying to "chat" with ebay is the wrong way to fight a claim.

OP1 week agoFrom the beginning of this mess of a transaction, I responded directly to the buyer and also responded within the appeal several times. The appeal judgement was so swift too, as if they did not even look at my responses to the buyer. Then AFTER eBay closed the appeal by giving the buyer a full refund + shipping refund, I "talked to eBay" by appealing the appeal. No human being saw this case. They would have seen that this buyer is a swindler.

·1 week agoWhen the buyer opened the INAD, you only have a couple days to accept the return.
After that, buyer can ask Ebay to step in and it's over for the seller.

·1 week agoWhen a buyer files an INAD, you need to accept the return and provide return shipping.

OP1 week agoIn the past, eBay has been so good and fair to me and the buyers. I've very much trusted eBay. But that was when I could talk to human beings that saw the whole picture. I will heed your words from now on. eBay is no longer human.

·1 week agoThings have changed and they don't really care about the whole picture.
They are all about the buyers and they want them coming back spending their money.

·1 week agoYour response was to reenter the tracking number. Messaging responses do not mean much. However, it is best to just accept the return, and not argue it. Get the item back, issue the refund and relist
