Tricky situation
Bought a pair of tyres, took them to a professional tyre fitter. As soon as they were inflated we discovered leaks on the sidewalls of both tyres. As standard practice for safety reasons tyre fitters deem sidewall punctures no repairable. So the tyres were replaced there and then with new ones so I could get home. And the old ones were sent for disposal seeming I didn't have the room at home to store 2 large items like that nor the physical means to lift them out of my car.
Opened a return case 'item not as described'. The only trouble is now the seller wants the items returned. I have had mixed messages from Cs as to whether the money back garauntee covers me or not. If it doesn't I don't see how it's fair that I've lost a day's pay due 2 flat tyres and the cost of 2 replacements. Whilst still having to pay the seller for items that weren't fit for purpose. What's your thoughts?

·1 year agoThe money back guarantee does cover you... IF YOU RETURN the tyres.

·1 year agoYour saying the tires you bought off of Ebay were defective and you let the tire shop dispose of them?
If so, you're pretty much out of luck getting a refund since you don't have them to return.

·1 year agoWell anytime you return and item for a refund, you have to give it back before they refund you. Think your out of luck on this.
My thoughts?
Why would you open a RETURN case when you knew you had nothing to RETURN?
In order to receive a refund for defective items you must return them.
How is it fair to the seller to refund you without getting their product back?

My thoughts are that I’ve never heard of a company that refunds buyers without having the defective items returned.
Someone lifted the tires to put them IN your car … so why couldn’t they have lifted them OUT of your car?
I’m very sorry, but disposing of the tires before knowing whether the seller wanted them back makes no sense.

·1 year agoThat is a tough situation, and you may want to consider reaching out to your bank (credit card). Disputing the charge may be your only option at this point and I would try to resolve it through eBay first before disputing through your bank.

No return of defective tires = no refund.
Period.

·1 year agoIf one of your new tyres fell to bits and you had it replaced at a different garage, would the original garage just give you your money back without seeing their disintegrated tyres?
