The seller promised to refund the money, but has not done so
Dear Sir or Madam,
There was an open box listing for the item purchased. In almost "used" condition, the product arrived with scuffs and scratches. The item works properly when two units are combined. However, one of the units had a defect in the battery plate. In order to fix the problem, the product must be opened up. Other units work fine. The seller was contacted before I returned the item. They told they'd give me 100$ off for the condition. I agreed. It has been about 7 days and they haven't responded. I have sent them reminder messages. I contacted them through ebay so all the messages are recorded. There is still time to return the item until January 25th. Do you have any advice? Do I need to wait for the refund to be processed or should I return it? Anything will be helpful. Refunds are confusing to me. Is it possible to request a refund through eBay as a buyer? Thank you

·3 years agoHow did you pay? Refunds through eBay take about a millisecond to show up on your Order Details page, as a second line under the payment line. So if you don't see it, you don't have a refund yet. If you have PayPal you can't send them a PayPal money request for $100 since your don't have their email address. But just make one up, and see how they respond.

·3 years agoeBay's Money Back Guarantee offers very good protection for buyers if/when a transaction goes wrong. Have you read it?
All you need to do is find the item in your Purchase History and open an item not received case within 30 days of the date you received the faulty item. The seller is required to send you a prepaid return label and to refund in full when it is received back.
But please read the MBG.

If the item was Not as described and you are trying to get a refund by simply messaging the Seller then there is a good chance that will no work as you have perhaps started to suspect. You only have 30 days from the date you received the item to file an official return for a refund through eBay. If you miss that window because you are waiting for the Seller to do something you will be forced to use either PayPal for a return (and you pay the shipping) or a credit card charge back depending on how you purchased the item.
Go to your Purchase history if you are still within 30 days of receipt and file an return using the reason Not as described or does not match the description (however they currently have that phrased). You will get a pre paid label to return the purchase ... once the Seller has the item back they will have 2 days to refund you, if they don't then you go back to the claim and use the link to Ask eBay to step in.

·3 years agoWithout any more information, I'd say that you'll need to open a Return claim. While a buyer can request a refund from the seller, eBay can't enforce the delivery of such. Don't let your window of opportunity close... use eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers. Good luck.

·3 years agoGo to your purchase history and click return item and select, the item doesn't match the description as the reason.
The seller will have 3 days to accept the return and pay return shipping or refund without returning.
If they don't, return to the case on day 4 and ask Ebay to step in.
