The person did not send the goods. The dispute is closed. The money is with the scammer. Please help
I only recently started using the platform, and everything was fine until I encountered a scammer. The person created a tracking number, and after a couple of days, nothing had changed. I decided to open a dispute for the first time, but it didn't help at all. The seller didn't even respond, and the dispute was closed on February 18
I don't know which section to use, so I decided to write here so that the community could direct me to the right place and I could solve the problem
I don't know how to insert my photo, but I will write the chronology of the dispute: Jan 2 - Item purchased, Jan 10 - Return started, Feb 18 - This return is closed

·6 months agoWhat type of “dispute†did you open? At the end you refer to it as a Return. The proper approach would have been an Item Not Received claim, and without tracking showing delivery, you should have won that claim. We need some details to advise you.

·6 months ago@zakord266 I think you reacted way too quickly. What was the seller's handling time?
You bought the item on Friday, January 2. Unless the seller offered same-day shipping, which is not likely, then the earliest it could have possibly have been shipped is Monday, January 5. If your seller had a longer handling time, it is possible they had not yet reached their deadline, which is why you did not see any movement.
What was the range of delivery dates that eBay showed you?
The other problem is that you opened a return. That was a bad move, especialy since you had nothing to send back. What reason did you select for the return? What was the return policy on the item you bought? If the seller accepts returns but at buyer's expense, that would be why the seller did not respond. They were probably looking at you wondering why you opened a return when you had nothing to send back.
At this point you can try to open an Item Not Received as I'm sure you are past the last delivery date by now. I don't know that the system will even let you do that since you already opened a return, which implies you received something. You also may be past the 30-day window to do an Item Not Received.
The one final thing you can do is open a dispute with your bank or credit card (however you paid). Before you do that, come back here and post some more details so others can follow up with you and guide you better once you've given some more info.

OP6 months agoThe person isn't even responding to messages. I wrote to him in private messages
Here is the delivery date range: “Tracking available: Est. delivery Tue, Jan 6 - Mon, Jan 12.â€
I chose the reason “Doesn't fit.†I was afraid to choose any option involving a refund because I have a new account and eBay might think I'm a scammer, so that's why.

If you don't want a refund what exactly are we discussing here?

OP6 months agoI want my money back. I made a mistake and got what I deserved

·6 months agoYou made a mistake, yes. It happens. Heindsight is always 20/20.
File a dispute with your bank or credit card. Hopefully you will win it. Before you buy anything else, please familiarize yourself with eBay's Moneyback Guarantee so you know what to do next time a situation arises.
eBay will only ever think you are a scammer (as a buyer) if you are habitually reported for violating policy. For example, lying about a return reason, sending a different back in a return than what you recieved, threating to leave a seller negative feedback if they do not do something that you want, etc. It would take multiple sellers to report you whereby eBay could see a pattern. If you ever made a purchase using a stolen card, that would be a problem. Had you opened an Item Not Recieved, the seller would have needed to respond by uploading a tracking number that showed it had been delivered or by refunding you. If they did not respond, you could have asked eBay to step in and they would have refunded you from the seller's account.
There are time limits buyers have to abide by when it comes to opening disputes, so that is why it is important you undersatnd how it all works before you buy again.

·6 months agoJust for fun, and protective knowledge, how about spending a moment or two reading the Money Back Guarantee for buyers?

·6 months agoYou only get one chance at a case. If you wanted a refund you should have opened an item not received case.

·6 months agoSince most processes on eBay are automated for both buyers and sellers, there is not much danger of eBay thinking anything about whether or not you are a scammer.
Learn about the tools that eBay gives you and use them effectively and in a timely fashion.

·6 months agoChoosing the wrong reason was not the reason the return was eventually closed, but it shouldn't have been a return request at all, because you didn't have anything to send back. The return closed because you didn't return anything. I don't get the logic of worrying that eBay would think you were a scammer because you were returning an item, but it's too late to change here on eBay. Your only option is to file a chargeback with your card issuer.

·6 months agoDoesn't fit is a remorse reason, also why would you open a return when you had nothing to return?
The return closed because you didnt return anything because you had nothing to return.
