The buyer falsely claimed “ Arrived damaged “ eBay refunded the buyer for dishonest behavior.
Buyer claimed the igniter “ Arrived damaged “ and attached a photo. The photo showed the igniter was 100% good. Asked the buyer provided photo to show the damaged section. No response. The buyer provided photo five hours later. The photo showed the black carbide of the igniter was broken into several pieces.
Reported the buyer. No response from eBay. Refund was issued by eBay because tracking showed the igniter was returned. File appeal . Attached photos showed the igniter was a good piece when arrived . The photo showed the igniter was broken into several pieces. Who did it ? The igniter was in the hands of the buyer.
eBay responded ⋯Here’s the case outcome. After reviewing your appeal, we decided we won’t be able to change the outcome of the case. We kept the original outcome because we couldn’t determine if the change in the item’s condition was caused by the buyer or not. 【 Do you believe it or not ? 】

·6 months agoWhen you don't accept returns that can happen. Some buyers will " help " an item get not as described.

OP6 months agoThe buyer destroyed the igniter. The buyer tried to keep the igniter for free. The buyer is a professional in this scheme. The buyer even messaged me that I am a scammer. Shipped damaged item to make money for life. The buyer was not just a thief.
Thanks for your inputs.

It is a numbers game. Play it, or don't.

·6 months ago@sh23ny It happens. Tonight I had a customer open a return for a DVD player becuase it was not a TV Tuner. She did not buy a TV tuner, she bought a DVD player. Instead of selecting "Ordered Wrong Item," she marked "Received Wrong Item." She had to include a photo of the item I sent her, which was the DVD player.
I was upset, so I get why you are upset. I messaged her and asked her what I missing, becuase she ordered a DVD player and that's sure what I sent her. She responded she didn't understand the return reasons so she just selected one. I sent her the return label becuase that is my responsibility. I offer free returns, so the return itself is fine. It's the reason.
I looked up my customer and she is 83 years old, which explains why she wanted a TV tuner and why she didn't understand what she ordered nor how to properly return it. I am going to report her account for return abuse, as much as I do not want to do that. But it is the only way to get back most of the return shipping cost and have my metrics adjusted for having an INAD return. Plus, if she does not know what she is doing, she does not need to buying on eBay and possibly screwing over other sellers. I just hope she packs the player up like I had it so it comes back in one-piece since I won't be able to reduce the refund under the INAD return.
Whatever happens, it doesn't ruin my business. Any finanical loss goes on my taxes for next year and with as much business as I'm doing, I'll be glad to have those extra deductions.
Got to keep moving forward and not go through life wishing things were not how they are.
That's my pep talk and your pep talk for the night.

·6 months agoIt is far easier to accept returns and get your item back in it's original condition so you can sell it again.

OP6 months agoThe buyer already broke the igniter into several pieces on purpose. My listing says “ The seller doesn‘t accept return “
The buyer tried to keep the good igniter for free. The buyer destroyed the igniter to pretend ’ Honest ”

·6 months ago...and this is why the lighter was broken, if we are to believe that, is to force a return from a seller who doesn't accept returns. Everything you think and say is pointless to eBay, they aren't investigating anything. Buyers can return anything within 30 days if they go about it and file a "correct" return. Sellers need to know this, that's why I say just accept returns and get your item back.
The buyer could have just returned the item by claiming INAD, but when we ask for pictures, well...at that point, they need to show you the broken lighter, whether it was from shipping or done by their own hands. And no detective work will help sellers in these types of case. Just accept returns and make it easy

·6 months agoMany buyers who change their mind for whatever reason see a no returns seller and believe they have to have a reason to return it. So often, they will damage the item in order to return file for a return.
Instead of arguing with the buyer, had you just accepted the return, you'd get the item back and could have relisted and resold it again.
To make matters worse for your account, you forced the buyer to have ebay step in and as a result, you didn't get credit for your final value fee, you got a defect on your account for not handling it yourself and you still didn't "prove your point!"

·6 months agoSo the buyer eventually gave you ANOTHER message with a picture showing the item was in pieces and you are questioning this?? Makes NO sense.
Buyers (people in general) don't just 'sit by their computers waiting for a response' so being 5 hours later is 100% NORMAL.
Doesn't matter 'who'- only matters that the buyer is SAYING and then SHOWING YOU (as you requested) the item arrived broken.
What MORE do you want/expect??

OP6 months agoWe were messaging. When I insisted the photo showing damaged section. The buyer remain silent for around five hours. The buyer‘s original plan was keep it free. The buyer wanted to prove the damage and destroyed the igniter.
The buyer even said the seller is a scammer. The buyer said I did lots of sending damaged item to cheat many buyers. I am not just dealing with a thief.
How do you like it when the buyer fasley claimed “ Arrived damaged ” and came back to accuse you are scammer after recived refund ?

OP6 months agoToday I reported the buyer ago for falsely claiming “ Arrived damaged “. The buyer was trying to keep the igniter for free. But failed to show damaged section. The buyer destroyed the igniter to provide photo of damaged section. I immediately reported the buyer when I saw thr destroy. The report was submitted before appealing. Looks like no one cares. Below was the report submitted. And eBay will review the report. I don’t think eBay will review the report.
The Igniter delivered is 100% good piece. The igniter returened was broken into many pieces. The photo attached for “ Arrived damaged ” was a good igniter. The buyer misused return to keep igniter for free.
The buyer destoyed the igniter to show damage because I kept demanding the photo to show damage. The original showing one good piece. The second photo showing the igniter was broken into several pieces. All these happened on the buyer‘s hands.
It is very easy to check the messages to find out who did it. Please ckeck the messages between the buyer and me. Do not refund the buyer for dishonest behavior. Do not punish the seller for innocent deed. Please ask whoever made the appeal decision. Just check the messages to find out what was happened. Let the photo talks. A picture says better more than thousand words. Thanks.

You can't prove the buyer received it in good condition.

OP6 months agoThe photo attached for “ Arrived damaged ” is 100% good igniter. That was why I kept asking the buyer provide photo to show the damaged section. The buyer broke the igniter into several pieces eventually.
Both photos from the seller were attached when I filed appeal. Both photos showed very clearly. eBay just ignored.

Look from their perspective: "Seller sent me a broken igniter and won't give a refund"
Do yourself a favor and quit selling on ebay.

OP6 months agoThe buyer even messaged that I am a scammer. Always sold broken parts to make life. The buyer said there must be a bunch of the buyers were cheated. I know I am not just dealing with a thief. There is a saying —- Whoever steal always say someone else is thief.
Let go the thief and let more peo[le become victims. It is not the right way foy me to do it. I don‘t want be a thief helper or a thief fund raiser.

·6 months agoBuyers do lie sometimes. Thankfully, it is the minority of the time.
But other than reporting the buyer you have no recourse but to issue the refund after they return the item or even if they return a rock.
Just like a retail store and shoplifting. Chalk it up as a business expense.

·6 months agoThere is really nothing we can do about it as sellers. Just mark it as a loss. I have one now where the buyer purchased a shampoo and conditioner and it is being returned as "not as described". He attached a photo and it is not in the condition it was sent to him. The bottles he is showing in the photo are dirty and obviously used but the ones I sent were brand new. Did I mention he is returning the set exactly 29 days after he received them? There is nothing I can do but accept the return and issue a refund even though I know I am getting the item back used (probably empty bottles) . Same for you. I think it is internet theft, it would be nice if there was a way to prevent it but there isn't. 🙂
I have another one that I think might have been trying to do a little dishonesty. After purchasing an item she wanted me to change the address. I could not do that as it would disqualify the seller protections. She left a negative saying she did not know why when she did know why. oh well, it's just business and there is nothing we can do. When we have to pay bills we do what we must.
