Should I return or accept a replacement
Summary: sfrangu shared their dilemma about receiving items from a seller that didn't meet the described quality, with the seller offering to redo them after a two-week absence but requiring the originals to be sent back. 12345jamesstamps advised asking for replacements first before returning items. simba6 suggested opting for a refund to avoid risks, and tobaccocardyahoo recommended going through the return process to maintain recourse. ryry-jj emphasized returning the items to retain buyer protection within eBay, noting that replacements wouldn't be tracked by eBay's system.
I received 2 items from a seller that are not as described and also low quality craftsmanship. The seller accepted to redo them if we send the original 2 back, also saying that they will be out of the country for 2 weeks and will do the replacements after coming back. This would put me over the 30-day limit to open a case, in case the replacements are not as expected.
Should I return the original items and reorder, or should I work with the seller hoping the replacements will be as listed and of good quality? Seller never mentioned a return label so I would have to pay for the return shipping.
Thank you for any advice.

·2 weeks agoAlways go for the refund.
There's no guarantee the replacements will be any better.

·2 weeks agoAlways return. This will complete the transaction within ebay and that is where you have all your buyer protection. Any replacement is actually "outside" of eBay's control and a second invisible transaction. eBay has no record of it, no tracking and if the replacement needs to be returned eBay, has no way of processing it. Plus all this back and forth may take you past the 30 day MBG on the original transaction

OP3 weeks agoThank you all for your advice! Indeed, the 2-week excuse sounds a bit… convenient.
The seller has a no-return policy. Maybe being very helpful when I wrote them about the numerous details that are different from the listing is because they don’t want to get through the return via eBay.
Sorry it is this way, but the items are unwearable in this condition.

·3 weeks agoGo through the return procedure.
You have no recourse when the 30 days have past other than a payment dispute with your payment method.

·3 weeks agoReturn for a refund. Don't risk it, the time will run out. Always take the refund.

·3 weeks agoThat's an item not as described...to be returned unless you get replacements first.
Tell seller send me items FIRST and then I will return the other items.
'out of the country for 2 weeks'...I heard every excuse in the book by the way.
