Selling on Ebay
I sold a ring for 650.00....buyer requested return. I had just moved and requested buyer update return address on label. Buyer did not. Item was returned to my old post office address. Contacted USPS and requested returned to current address. Of course USPS returned item back to buyer. Ebay refunded the 650.00 to buyer. I sent return label to buyer and no response. Contacted Ebay daily and zero response. How can I either received item back and/or my money back. Am I really out 650.00? Your help appreciated.

·3 years agoUpdating your return address on eBay and also filling out the forwarding paperwork at your post office is your responsibility.
Asking buyer to return item to a different address is very shady appearing to buyer and they knew to follow eBay rules.....

·3 years agoYou can't request an address change. The buyer has to use the label as issued. Those are the eBay rules.
See if the post office can help.

·3 years agoYou sent an item that expensive thru USPS????? Just priority mail?? No extra insurance?? You only get $100 USPS priority Anyway its your fault for not updating your addresses. Buyer cannot EDIT return label. When a return shows delivered EBAY refunds buyer. Although its your mistake, it is totally UNFAIR if the buyer gets the item and u are out $650 You have buyers name address and probably phone number. They should return the item when u send the correct one. You can threaten the buyer with legal action. Maybe scare them into returning it??????????

·3 years agoInsurance is not a factor in this situation. Even if insured there are no grounds for a claim.

·3 years agoReturn labels can't be edited, all five addresses in your account should be updated when you move. It is your responsibility, not the buyers, to ensure your return address is currant.
So if it was returned to your old post office why didn't you go pick it up? And why didn't you put in a change of address with the post office?
There's nothing eBay can do about your error. Sorry to say yes, it appears that you are out the money and the item.

·3 years agofirst make sure the item was shipped to your old addy through the shipper.
If it was, unless the buyer is honest there is nothing you can do. Offer to pay for the shipping again when the get it back.
If it was not your addy then get that in written form, and then try to do some thing with eBay, unless this is a voluntary return on your part: in which case file fraud and theft with proper law enforcement.

·3 years agoFrom memory the forwarding service with usps when you move doesn't include periodicals and parcels.

·3 years agoWhy didnt you fill out a mail forwarding form from your old address? There is no way you can force the buyer to pay you now, Im sorry.
