Seller wants to refund me but window closed
Summary: nvondolteren reported an issue with receiving only half of a refund after returning a Google Pixel phone. Despite the seller acknowledging the mistake and advising to appeal, eBay has closed the return process, citing the decision as final. simba6 suggested contacting the credit card company, while christworks considered potential reasons for the partial refund, such as the phone's condition. stainlessenginecovers indicated that the seller might have misled nvondolteren and emphasized the limitation of customer service in resolving the issue. nvondolteren remains frustrated over the situation.
Hello, I returned a Google Pixel 9 XL I bought because I decided I wanted a smaller size. The seller erroneously only reimbursed me half the price back. I contacted the seller and they apologized, recognized the mistake, and told me to appeal the refund in order to receive a full refund. However, eBay says the return is closed and the decision is final. I can’t find any costumer service that is an actual human being to help me resolve this issue. I’m very frustrated as this is several hundred dollars I’m being robbed of. I’d appreciate any help.

·Jul 10, 2026 at 11:39 PMSeller can simply refund you, up to 90 days.
Seller simply did a full deduction (50% allowed) just because.
You called him on it and he responded with untruths.
There is NO customer service that can help you.

·Jul 10, 2026 at 11:25 PM@nvondolteren Let's play this game.
Did you return the phone exactly as you got it? Did you pack it back into the packaging how the seller had it? Did you use the phone for any period of time? Or did you look at the size of it and decided instantly it was too big.
Some sellers can deduct up to 50% of the refund if you returned it in a different condition. It sounds like that is what happened here. If you gave me any type of hint that used that phone, I would deduct. How long did you have it before opening the return?
I don't know that 50% was the right call. If you had the phone for two weeks and used it at all, I'd take 30%. If it came back with scratches it didn't have, a damaged screen, or you did not properly pack it as I shipped to you, I could easily be at 50%.
I think your seller just doesn't want to deal with you, so they are playing it off as an accident and telling you to appeal the refund, which you can do when a deduction is made. You get 10 business days to do that. If you let those days lapse or if you confirmed you got your refund, then it is indeed closed and there is nothing you can do.
You can go to your bank or credit card as @simba6 said, but if I am the seller I am armed with proof you used my phone or caused damaged to it. Not to mention the fact you either confirmed you were okay with the refund you got or you let the 10 days lapse and it closed automatially.
