Seller sold counterfeit item – return blocked, no option to file claim
I am unable to file a claim through the normal return flow and need eBay staff assistance.
Order #: 15-13948-03341
Item: “Imamura ShÅhei 10 Collection†Blu-ray set
Seller: [Removed by Moderator]
The item I received is counterfeit media. Subtitles do not function, packaging and disc menus do not match any legitimate release, and the item was misrepresented as a legitimate region-free Blu-ray set.
I opened a return, but the seller has refused to provide a prepaid return shipping label and has repeatedly requested that I send PayPal information outside of eBay. The return is now marked “past due,†and there is no option in the interface to convert this to a counterfeit claim or to ask eBay to step in.
Under eBay policy, counterfeit items must not be returned to the seller. I am requesting that this case be escalated, the return deadline overridden, and a full refund issued without return.
Please advise or escalate to the appropriate team.
Thank you.

·8 months agoIt didn't work. You have no proof, beyond a reasonable doubt, that it was 'counterfeit' so you could have/should have just opened a 'Not As Described' Return and then you can return it because for all you know, it just 'didn't function right'.
Instead, you stand your ground.
Alone.
Broke.
and as already mentioned, you needed to give that PP info so the seller could send you the $$ required for you to ship it back as NO OTHER COUNTRY person can PURCHASE a USA shipping label.
So many lessons for you to learn.
Learn them.

A lot to unpack here. 1) So you opened a Return, but did not escalate the case to eBay on Day 4? That would have created a refund and you'd not have to ship the item back to the seller. 2) You are wise to not give the seller your PayPal info... the seller can refund you right through the Return. 3) The Return is marked 'past due' because you didn't ship to the seller during the 22-Day period allowed? Has the Return been closed due to that? 4) I don't know of the eBay policy regarding shipping a counterfeit back to the seller... but that puts us back to '#1'... you'd not have had to ship if you'd escalated to eBay on Day 4.
Sit tight for other posters who might know of any recourse to offer. Sorry you picked a scrub seller.
