Seller - [Removed by Moderator]
I bought a headlight, and the seller sent me a broken one. I took several photos, told the seller about it, and then threw the headlight in the trash because it was completely useless. I asked for my money back or a new headlight—the one I paid for. The seller heard that I threw the broken headlight in the trash - started demanding the return of the broken headlight and didn't give me my money back. And our eBay didn't help me at all, and I lost $220. "Thank you so much, our beloved eBay."

·8 months ago@vahkarap_16 Have you EVER received cash back on a return at Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, Kohls, Macy's, Target etc etc at the returns counter giving them nothing but a story and a photo?
Ridiculous, or a 'worldly' learning lesson.
Don't EVER do that again. You want a refund, return the item.

This is a "PEBCAK error" (google it if you're under 40)

·8 months agoAnd, sitting here bored today. It's Monday. I listed my butt off last night, all caught up. Nothing to do. So I got interested in looking into this a little more.
How many times have you tried to pull this Scam?? Buy Item. Receive Item. Claim it is broken. Throw it away. Then demand refund. You've got a history of doing this. How many times have you gotten away with it without leaving Feedback causing a trail to see this Scam you've been pulling?
After looking at all the pictures the Seller had of the Headlight in their Listing, then comparing them to the pictures you put up, WITH the box in the background, the box that doesn't show damage that would cause this kind of breakage to this Headlight, I'm questioning as to whether this is YOUR broken Headlight in your pictures, or the Sellers Headlight that you allege came broken. Do you really think a Seller would put a cracked up Headlight in a box and mail it like that? If you're going to make a claim like this, at least be smart enough to stomp on the Box a couple of times to make it appear it came broken. Minimum got damaged in transit.
My Bet, you've got a New Headlight on your Jeep now that cost you $220. You are whole. You got what you paid for. Your Jeep is repaired. Get on with life.

·8 months agoYou didn't lose $220, you threw it in the trash.
You could have filed an INAD, returned it, on the seller and got a refund.

·8 months agoHow is the seller (or eBay) supposed to know if it is indeed broken if you disposed of it? Returning items for a refund is the normal way to get a refund on eBay or anywhere else.
If you go to a retail outlet (Walmart, Target etc.) and ask for a refund for a defective item you are expected to bring it back. Ebay is no different......................................

·8 months agoI don't get what your complaint is. Part of receiving a Refund involves Returning the Sellers item back to the Seller. It's right there in the Policy itself. Seller wants their item back, broken or not. If you can't Return the item, or refuse to Return the item, you do not deserve a Refund.
Try buying, say, a Porcelain Scentsy Burner at Walmart. It's sealed in the box. You pay, get a receipt. You get home and open box. Porcelain Scentsy is all cracked up in the box. You choose to just throw it away, THEN go back to Walmart with your receipt only demanding a refund. How well do you think that is going to work out for you?
Same logic applies here. Refund denied.
