Seller (Name) let us know that they can't buy a return shipping label for you to use for this item.
Hi, I'm encountering a problem that I've never experienced on eBay before. I purchased an item from a seller in Perris, CA, and that's also what the address said on the shipping label. The package arrived today, but it turned out to be a fake, so I initiated a return that they approved. Well, I got an email from eBay saying "The seller can't send a return shipping label," as well as the message in the subject of this post. Now if I click "View details," it says that the seller should send me a label, and the return address that the seller linked is in Australia. What should I do? Even if they give me a return shipping label, I'm worried about sending it internationally since I bought it domestically. If I do that, I'm worried that I won't get my refund since it won't be going back to the sender's address. Thanks for the help!

·2 years agoThanks for the advice. When I send ebay a PM on facebook, I ask them for a return label and they will somehow make the seller pay for it?
In my case, the seller is in China but the return address they gave me is in the US, as am I. I'm not sure if that will complicate things.

·2 years agoYes, eBay will put the case on hold for 5 days. Do not @davidsgrogan talk to the seller again, and certainly do not pay for the return label yourself expecting to be reimbursed later; let eBay handle this.
The seller likely will get whoever is at the US address to buy your return label, for you to return for your refund.

OP2 years agoI ended up calling eBay customer service a day before his time was up because it was looking like he wasn't going to send me a label. He even said that he'd take a fee out of my refund if he had to buy the label because he doesn't accept returns, but I let him know that eBay said that the seller is responsible for providing the return label. Anyway, the lady on the phone told me that he had one more day to provide the label, and if he didn't, I could call again. She also told me that a button would appear to get eBay involved, but he surprisingly sent a label later that night, finally, so I wasn't able to see if that would really happen. I ended up getting my refund, even though I was still somehow missing $0.28 from it, but I'm sick of dealing with him, so I guess he can keep the 28 cents.

·2 years agoWhat "time was up" are you referring to? The 4 days after requesting the return?
I requested a return for a damaged item on December 26 and got this message from ebay:
Is that the same time up you are referring to?
After I requested a return, I got three messages. First said seller accepted the return. Second with the subject "The seller can't send a return shipping label". Third is a message from the seller that says

·2 years agoA seller who has sent you a fake, given you a return address overseas, and saddled you with that return shipping, is not someone you want to continue with a conversation.
We are not fools @shocktreatment12 to pursue more deception after we have been deceived. Stop trying to talk to that seller (you won't hear back, as they are waiting for your clock to run out) and just contact eBay for help with the prepaid return label.

OP2 years agoYeah, after a few more messages, they said "You can just return it to the address in America without the return label." Yup, I'll just send a package without a label. I think I will just have to wait for eBay to step in.

·2 years agoNo @shocktreatment12
1. eBay will not automatically step in, and
2. the button to ask eBay to step in is not going to appear.
eBay is waiting for your return tracking number, otherwise your case will close without a refund.
You need to stop talking to the seller, and contact eBay at Facebook at this page instead TO ESCALATE YOUR CASE.

OP2 years agoI don't have Facebook. If it comes to it, I'll have the CC company step in.

·2 years agoAs another poster mentioned earlier, there will NOT be a link for ebay to step in. Once the seller accepts a return ebay assumes that they have sent you a label of the money for a label. That's why you should contact ebay customer service on FB, instragram or twitter (x).

·2 years agoYou are stuck with paying for your own return label to Australia, for which
-- they promised
-- but you won't be
reimbursed after it is delivered back.
A button to ask eBay to step in will never appear, in 4 days, 14 days, or 4ever. You've been cleverly stalled @shocktreatment12
-- with a looming deadline,
-- with no prepaid return label, and
-- with a case that will close without a refund.
Instead to "unstuck" the case, leave a PRIVATE message here to tell eBay that you need a prepaid return label to Australia.
On eBay, when a seller buys the label it can go anywhere in the world -- and you'll get a refund even if it is never delivered or it comes back to you -- because the seller paid for that label.

Well that is true if the label is from your country's post office. A U.S. buyer needs a label supplied from a U.S. post office. International sellers can only supply labels through eBay from their own country's postal system.
The seller needs to send the OP the funds to purchase a return label.
@shocktreatment12 have you given the seller your PayPal address to send $ for return shipping?
davidsgrogan
·2 years agoWhen I send my PayPal address in a message to the seller, ebay is removing it because their member-to-member contact policy https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/member-behaviour-policies/membertomember-contact-policy doesn't allow exchanging email addresses. Do you know what to do in this case? How do I give them my paypal address?
sdneped
·2 years agoYou cannot @davidsgrogan any more. Any ploy you attempt will circumvent that policy, and could get you banned without a refund on eBay.
Once the seller seller accepted your return but could not issue a prepaid return label, your 3-business-day timeout to ask eBay to step in was canceled, and your deadline to add a return tracking number began.
Instead ask eBay to handle this by sending a private message via Facebook as previously suggested. Just open an account for the single purpose of contacting eBay, even if you don't use social media.

·2 years agoThe seller cannot provide a label from another country. If he does not Paypal you the funds for a label, on the fourth day ask Ebay to step in. The link for that will appear then.
