Seller Lied and Issued 50.1% Refund
Hi, so I ordered an item a few weeks ago with its return processed recently.
I decided to return it the because the condition labeled was new and it clearly was not new. The box was weary, the seal was already off and it was not a new box. The item, had minor dents and clear signs of usage. It wasn't significant but it definitely was not new. So I returned it.
I made up my mind because the day after I bought this item, I found another one for a better price but after receiving it in this condition, I was going to return it for sure.
So I packed everything as it arrived and returned it only to receive 50.1% return. The pictures seller attached with the half-return was definitely not what I received. The item in his pictures were in worse condition claiming that it was not the item he sent. I am lost for words and not sure how to resolve this. The seller has a very good review and seems reputable but I can't think it's a mistake because the pictures he posted is definitely not in the condition as I recall, which seems malicious to me. How do I work this out?

·3 years agoFirst, don't talk to the seller @isaami-4 and don't ask eBay for help, as eBay allows the seller this small privilege to withhold 50% of your refund. And if you do, eBay and not the seller will have to pay the other 50%.
Instead, file another return request, but with PayPal here, if that's how you paid. Then when PayPal says to return the item, upload the already-delivered return tracking number to get your remaining refund from the seller, and not paid by eBay.
Otherwise, file a chargeback with your card issuer, and provide your tracking number to get the rest of your refund, again repaid by the seller.

OP3 years agoThank you very much! I requested an intervention prior to posting this already. It seems like eBay responded right away and issued rest of the refund but I'm not sure if its the other 50% or just a slightly increased amount. If it happens to be the latter case, I'll go take the PayPal route you mentioned. Thank you for the advice!

·3 years agoI would never recommend that to anyone in the OP's situation. It's quick and easy to get help from ebay in this situation (as the OP did in fact discover.)
There's a place to click for ebay's help right in the ebay message about the refund. Same option can be found on the return details page.
Payment disputes should only be used as a last resort.
