Seller let us know that they can't buy a return shipping label for you to use... QUESTION!
Canadian seller, USA buyer (me).
Done lots of research. Many other community posts asking this same question. BUT none bring up or answer what I believe to be the BIGGEST SCARIEST PART of this process.
Question: I paid $300 for something I am returning. I'm going to be sent money to compensate my purchase of a USPS shipping label to return the item. Seller will receive the package... WHAT IF seller does not issue a refund? Is this a call ebay, give them my tracking number yada yada situation and I just have to stress about it until it's over?
Or... My assumption is that on the seller's end, he's being prompted with instructions to get label quote from me, send me label money, and then I'm supposed to give him the tracking number for him to upload which then will prompt me with a message like "ship your return!"
...because that's what I want to see. I want the reassurance that ebay knows the tracking number for this return. I don't want to get into a "I never got it back" he said / she said situation.
By the way if anyone working at ebay reads this post, I think this process could be easily improved upon.

·3 years agoSend the seller the shipping quote.
Once they send you the $ for shipping via PayPal, you buy the shipping label.
You then put the tracking # in the return case you opened.
Once the item arrives the seller will have 3 days to refund you OR you can go to the case and ask eBay to step in.

OP3 years agoOk so I do have a take action button now on my return case. Clicking it takes me to a page that reads:
"It's time to ship the item back to the seller
Be sure to send it back by Mar 30. If you don't, we might close your return and there's a chance you won't get a refund. The seller's responsible for return shipping charges, so you can ask for a return shipping label.
Already sent it back?
Just mark the item as sent and let the seller know the item's on the way."
--my options for actions are
Mark as shipped
Contact Seller
Close this return
Assuming I'm going to mark as shipped and then there's a prompt for me to input tracking. Regardless I should be fine given that as a seller we are able to "mark as shipped" and then if buyer claims no receipt, we can win the dispute IF we can provide tracking info.
I appreciate your help!

OP3 years agoSeller XXXX let us know that they can't buy a return shipping label for you to use for XXXX
The seller is still responsible for return shipping costs, so contact them to arrange return shipping.
--- and with that I'm out of eBay prompts... I'm expected to follow commands prompted by the seller from here on out? Ebay tells seller to tell me X Y and Z?
You'd think at the bottom of the message I received from ebay it would say something like "click here once you have your label purchased to update your tracking number"
Or
"DO NOT SHIP YOUR RETURN UNTIL WE CONFIRM YOUR LABEL WITH THE SELLER!" (Which I would receive after the seller uploads my tracking number.
Improve this please, @ebay.
