Seller claiming I returned wrong items
I bought some phones from when ebay had 20% off in February from a seller I had been buying from since 2023. Purchased 50 to 60 plus phones from him sometimes more than $4000 each purchase. Only returned a phone when it was defective or not as described and always got a refund.
I bought the phones in February because I thought I was getting a deal with the 20% off. When I got the phones the deal was just over and I actually found out it was not actually a discount at all. The seller had increase the price of the phone to $641.24 and immediately after the sale it was back to $532. I was not please because I realized the phones did value what they say they did and I could get the phones at better price with better battery life so I returned them. I selected no longer needed as the seller had free returns. Once the seller received the items they contacted ebay saying I returned wrong broken items with different imei number. The a case was opened and until the Mar 5th once. Once march 5th came it was extended to the March 9 after ebay said I would have my money back on the 5th or ask them to step in. I am suppose to get a refund of a little over $4000. I have bought on ebay for years and have situations multiple times where a seller accidentally refunded me once I opened the return giving me the option to keep the item and I have always reached out to them to email me return label andvsendvthe items back. Sometimes items that cost over $400. I have also had situations where I bought a lot of phones for $1800 and four were defective because the seller had bougt them in a lot and didn't check them. I returned the 4 phones and sellervwas suppose to refund $480 but did not know how to use ebay properly and sent the entire 1800 back. I asked for his number and zelle him the $1320 back to him. Have situation also seller sent me someone else's order, almostv$700 phone instead of the $200 I bought and I reached out to him before he realized because the other person did not receive the package as yet. He refunded me and trusted me to send me a shipping label and had me send the phone to the correct buyer. All this is documented in messages on ebay and this seller is saying I stole his phones. This is big seller in ebay even though hecas a lot of bad feedback as well. I am just waiting on ebay refund my money. I have returned other items to sellers that are very expensive even more expensive and got my full refund and never accused of anything. I even have refunds for some I phone 16s that where not unlocked in the same time and seller have refunded. I hope ebay takes the time to look at my account and see that I am not a thief but the seller is dishonest, but in his promotion and in dealing with buyers. Whenever you are returning an item I suggest you record it while at the drop off counter. I use to do it but stopped but I suggest you do this because people are dishonest.

·6 months agoMost of what you said has no bearing on your issue. Your experience with other sellers and what you did/they did is irrelevent to your issue now. We don't know you and have no way to know whether you are being honest. eBay will look to see if any other sellers have reported you for this in the past. They may look at the seller to see if they have reported others in the past for this.
If a seller is top rated, they can withhold up to 50% of the refund. If they say you sent back the wrong phones, that's a valid reason to withhold 50%. I'm confused as to whether the seller has done that or whether they are trying to get out of refunding you anything. If they have not refunded you at all and they have asked eBay to step in, eBay may rule in your favor. If both accounts are clean and they cannot determine who is telling the truth, if that seller has a good history and does really good sales, eBay may refund you out of their own pocket.
It sounds like you've done a lot of business with this seller and have not had any issues, because you've gone back to them. It would honestly surprise me they would make something up when it comes to a loyal customer. That is generally not a business model that works: Accuse a loyal customer of fraud for what, $600?
By your own admission you buy a lot of phones. Is there any chance, even a small chance, you mistakenly returned the wrong phone? Have you gone through all the phones you have to verify you did not mess up? I imagine you felt some anger at this seller becuase you believed they had been dishonest about the price (which I'm going to address in a moment). Sometimes when we are angry, we are prone to making mistakes and and not realize it. I'm not saying you did anything wrong on purpose. Mistakes happen and I feel like this is a misunderstanding type situation rather than either of you being dishonest.
I do take issue with you calling the seller "dishonest" for having a higher price while a discount was being offered. There is nothing dishonest about that. It isn't like the seller advertised the phone at $532, but when you paid it was $641. No, he advertised $641. Did you not pay any attention to the price when you bought it?
You must have been okay with it since that's what you paid.
The price the seller had on the phone after the discount is frankly none of your business. Sellers set their own prices, and there are all types of marketing tricks to bring in buyers, offer discounts, and not lose any money. This is very common across all retail, from eBay to your local grocery store to Amazon to Walmart. Even restaurants will deploy this tactic from time to time.

OP6 months agoMe saying what I experience with other sellers I obviously know you cannot see it. But ebay can and I have screenshots of all those transactions to prove I have all dealth honestly with sellers even when they were not honest with me.
The seller as thousand of buyers so he would not even know I buying from him because until I sent him all those screenshots of my purchases since 2023.
I am 1000% sure I didn't make a mistake. I bought 8 phones in total sent back in 4 different packages of two each which I shipped personally and they said I stole all 8 of their phones. Even saying I returned phones with different imei but not showing anything at all. And it's for a total of a little over $4000. The phones never left my desk and those are the only model phones I had. The seller is definitely lying
Regarding the promotion it's deceptive business practice to increase the price of an items and then call it a discount or sale while having the customer paying the original price.
