Scammer, but i am forced by Ebay's Policies to Provide Return
I had a customer claim i sold him a Coffee maker that was 13 years old. He sent me some picture and said, these are the picture you sent, when i have never sent him pictures to begin with. The pictures he sent show a different colored flooring and different color kitchen counter color. Not to mention you can see in reflection my brand new coffee maker sitting in background. So why is it i have to comply with his request or i loose my seller rating according to customer service. This needs to be fixed, its a loose loose for sellers. Take a look at pictures and its obvious he is a fraudster! The first 2 picture are picture he said i sent, when i never sent pictures. And notice the reflection of my new coffee maker sending behind his in one of the picture. And his counter and floor are different colors than mine. Look at reflection, its my new coffee maker he says he never got.
His counter top and fllor color are different than mine in 3rd and 4th picture
my kitchen couter top and floor. Not even same color in pictures he said i sent.

·7 months agoDon't be discouraged - unfortunately returns/scams happen no matter how good your listings and customer service are. But I don't think they happen very often. Do what you can and just keep listing. 🙂
As far as seller performance, I don't believe that is affected whatsoever except for when 1.) a seller sells an item as "out of stock" or 2.) a seller doesn't resolve a "return" or 3.) a seller keeps shipping late. Hopefully it hasn't escalated to that, and your customer comes clean. Best wishes to you~

As others have alluded to, and since you're TRS... you'd have the ability to deduct (up to) 50% of the (impending) full refund if only you offered (as little as) 30-Day (Buyer pays) Returns, IF you receive a different/destroyed/devalued item back in a Return claim.
Moving forward, I'd offer that you revisit your Returns policy. That seller protection is one of the last ones left and I hate to see a TRS miss out on it. Good luck to you moving forward.

·7 months agoAlthough the seller's profile does show him as being TRS, there's a no return policy on the listing in question so the OP can't deduct anything. (Only one of @sincity7021 's active listings accepts returns. None of the completed listings had returns accepted.)

·6 months agoI noticed that, too. That's why I told the OP, "... if only you offered (as little as) 30-Day (Buyer pays) Returns..." (hint, hint)
I hate to see sellers not utilize that protection. When I sold, I only used it twice... but it did lessen the sting a bit. ðŸ˜

OP7 months agoI will thank you if it goes that far. He is already changing his tune about the coffee maker saying he got it mixed up with somebody elses.

OP7 months agoUnfortunately he is sending a black coffee maker back, when what I sent him was brushed steal. And the fact that i never sent him any picture which eBay has record of is his second mistake. And to the guy that said, and using a AI to create a made up floor is not something i would do. I been on here almost 8 years, The Last 2 as a seller. Maybe other people do crappy business like that but i am not one of them. A scam is a scam, and when its this obvious, lets just say I'll see him in court if he tries to send me that broke coffee maker he bought 12 years ago. Plus the receipt he says he has won't match the one I have from it being bought new at store. It was a gift for my Dad, that we don't use so he told me to sell it on my store. I highly doubt that someone he has known for over 20 years would give him a used broke coffee maker as a gift for Christmas. The person that gave that to him laughed when i ask him about it, and gave me receipt of purchase.

If this is the first time it's happened, you've been lucky.

·7 months agoI've seen a lot of what I thought were new items in sealed boxes and when I look inside it's an older unit that someone put in the box and sent to a thrift store. I always take new items out of the box and take photos.

·7 months ago@sincity7021 Has your buyer opened a return, or did they just sent you a message?
If they have not opened a return, why stress over it? They may be trying to scare you into giving a partial refund. I don't think I'd even respond if it is just a message.
Now, I'll be honest, your floor is not relevant. Nobody here nor at eBay knows what your floor looks like. I can have ChatGPT create a similar image for me and I can tell you it is my floor. I'd leave that out altogether.
Second, I do see a reflection on the left side of the first image. I cannot say that it looks like a coffee maker. Just being honest. I don't know how well that argument will play with eBay.
Did you check the box of the Cuisinart to verify what was in it? You do not show any images of the inside of the box in your listing. In fact your first image is a stock photo, so you are already in violation of eBay policy there as I'm sure you do not own the copywrite to that photo. If you did not physically open the box and verify what was inside, your argument carries even less weight. For future reference, understand that if you list a brand like Cuisinart as new and you do not open the box and show the buyer what is inside, you open yourself up to being scammed. It is okay to break the seal, open it up and take a photo. Then, list is as new/open box or new (other). You don't lose any money by doing that. In fact, you attract good buyers because they see you are honest. I will list new, sealed items as new/open box or new (other) or even used all the time to avoid these issues. If you don't, you roll the dice. That will work out a lot of the time. Maybe even most of the time. Sometimes it doesn't, and this may be one of those times.
If you opened that box and looked to see what was inside and you 100% know it is not the coffee maker in the image he sent you, then you can try to call their bluff. It carries some risk, but maybe it's worth a shot.
If you are going to respond to a message or if the buyer did open a return, I would message something like the following:
"Dear buyer, I am giving you the benefit of the doubt and will ask you to verify that you have the correct seller. I did not send you any images. I sent you the exact product you ordered, a XXXXX coffee pot, which is clearly visible in the reflection of the images you provided. If you are insinuating I sent you something other than what you ordered, your return will be considered abuse of the eBay return policy. Your account will be reported to eBay upon receipt of the return and verification that you have returned something other than what I sent you. Additionally, returning something other than what I sent you is fraud and has criminal repercussions. We take fraud seriously and appropriate legal action will be taken against you should you choose to engage in it. We hope it does not come to that and this is a simple mix-up on your part. Should you have any questions, please let us know as we are happy to assist."
Again, if you never opened the box to look inside, you have zero case here and you need to take the return if the buyer opens one or refund them and let them keep it. What you do not want to do is to ignore a return request.
This is not an eBay problem. You create these situations when you are not fully transparent in your listings. Now you know.

·7 months agoSince you're a TRS, if you accepted 30 day returns, you could deduct some from the refund.
Once it's returned, if it is a different one, you can report the buyer, but you'll still have to refund.

The op has a no returns policy and cannot deduct anything from the refund.
