Returns
I sold a calculator the buyer said it didn't work. He wanted to return it.
What I received was not the calculator I sent.
How do I get the refund to stop?

You refund then appeal with your pictures. ebay may send you an affidavit to sign but most likely will just give you a courtesy refund.

Moving forward, you might want to revisit your Return policy. As a TRS, you'd have the ability to discount the refund by (up to) 50% if a devalued/destroyed/different item is returned to you, if you only offered (as little as) 30 Day (Buyer pays) Returns. It's one of the last seller protections left and I hate to see a TRS miss it.
Lucky for you the item wasn't that pricey. Good luck, however you proceed.

OP7 months agoCan you explain more> I am fairly new seller and this is the first time I have had an issue. TRS?

I'll go you one better. Tick this link and shimmy down to Top Rated Sellers. >> Seller ratings | eBay
In this particular instance, the 50% discount (on the impending full refund) still won't make you whole, but it does lessen the sting of the refund a bit. When I sold, I was TRS and used 30-Day (Buyer pays) Returns. I was very happy with that policy and only had to use the refund deduction a couple of times.
Later, when slow sales kept me from hitting the '100 sales/year' required to stay TRS, I kept that Return policy. No problems.

As an afterthought... tick this link.>> Seller standards policy | eBay
^^ That one tells you how you got there and how to remain TRS. Shimmy down to 'Requirements to become Top Rated'. 🙌

Came back to strike what I posted earlier. That ^^ listing was Sold 'No Returns', so you wouldn't be able to lessen the refund.

·7 months agoClassic return fraud. As stated, your jacked. All you can do is add a small amount to all your items to cover such loss. It's the on line form of shoplifting without the risk of being perp walked to the mall's security office.

OP7 months agoThank you! I reported him, and I also reached out to eBay and opened a case for appeal of the refund. How do I let others know of him so they don't fall into the same trap?

·7 months agoYou don't, sorry. Just report, block and move on.
You're not allowed to leave negative feedback for a buyer, not even positive feedback with a negative comment. And you're not allowed to name-and-shame here in the community.

You can report the buyer, but you'll still have to refund.

OP7 months agoThank you! I did report him and I opened a case against him.
Am I allowed to list his name so others do have the same bad luck as I?

Not here but there are FB, reddit groups and hobby forums that keep a database of problematic customers.
If you have a niche you concentrate on those are good places to populate a BBL list from.
If you only sell here and there and have no specific area of expertise then it would not benefit you any to copy and paste one of those lists.
