Returning item to overseas seller
I purchased a new watch from a seller in the US (I live in Australia) and when it arrived I noticed that there were some hairline scratches on the side of the watch. I’m a bit OCD so I opted to return the watch after clicking “item arrived damaged†but the seller told me to just “rub the scratches with a cloth and it will go away and it’s at the side so it’s not visibleâ€. I replied that the scratches bother me and would really prefer to return the watch, but they told me to “please understand†that returns are difficult because they’re in the US.
Not sure how to proceed from here on - I don’t really want to keep the watch, so should I keep insisting on a refund/wait for ebay to step in? Is the seller responsible for international shipping in this case?

·2 years agoIf you haven't opened a refund do so now using item damaged or something similar as the reason. was the item sent directly to you by the seller or did they use ebay International shipping? If they sent it directly to you, then they are responsible for the return shipping but as they aren't able to send a
You need to find out how much return shipping will cost so that you can let them know how much to send. If they refuse to pay for shipping upfront you will have to contact ebay customer service as the 'ask ebay to step in' option will not appear IF they have accepted the return. If they haven't accepted then you should be able to ask them to step in after the required waiting period.

·2 years agoDid you actually open an item not as described case within 30 days of receiving the watch?
If so, your seller will be required to remit the cost of return shipping in advance since the difference in countries will not allow him to simply send a prepaid return label.
You need to follow the protocol outlined in the MBG. And it would be a good idea to cease communication with that seller.
The MBG offers good protection to buyers if/when a transaction goes wrong. Please read it and use it in a timely fashion.
