Returning as a buyer
Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me as I’m in an unfamiliar situation. I bought an iPhone 14 from a seller, when I received the item it was not as described (imei banned) so requested a return and the seller granted it. It turns out he sent a wrong address, and we came to an agreement that he would refund me, and I would mark the box as return to seller (as he was having trouble getting another shipping label). Well now he said he’s having an issue returning the money to me as the return request is open, which doesn’t allow him to refund me. He asked me to cancel the request then reinitiate it. I don’t feel comfortable doing this as wouldn’t this essentially remove any buyer protection I have? Thanks any help is appreciated.

·1 year agoDo Not close the return. The Seller has an issue with trying to scam you out of your money is what they mean.
When it tracks as delivered they have a time frame to refund or you can ask ebay to step in.

What does the tracking number show?
Does it show delivered? In an open return, once the item shows delivered, the seller has 3 days to refund or eBay does it.

OP1 year agoMaybe I should clarify I haven’t sent the phone back yet with the label, I was honestly just worried that he would refuse my refund and say something along the lines of me knowing it was an alternate address since he communicated that to me in our messages (regardless of him sending me the wrong address).

Use the label as it was sent.
Do not wait and do not make any changes to it.
That tracking number is in your return request.
It doesnt matter if the seller has the wrong address. Dont get sucked into his drama and lose your money.
Just send the item back with the shipping label provided ASAP.

I assume you opened a INAD (item not as described) return through ebay.
The seller will provide you with a return shipping label.
When tracking shows the seller received the return, you will get a full refund.

No, don't close the case.
What does tracking show on the returned package?
If it shows delivered, doesn't matter where it was delivered, the seller has two days to issue the refund.
If the seller gave a bad address, that's their fault.

OP1 year agoShould I go forward with just sending the item to the address sent on the return label then? I was honestly just worried that he would refuse my refund and say something along the lines of me knowing it was an alternate address since he communicated that to me in our messages.

·1 year agoIf you were provided a shipping label through the case, go ahead and use it.
If it's a bad address and it gets returned to you, you should still get your refund.

·1 year agoNever ever close a claim and think you will be refunded.
You are dealing with a scammer or someone who has read how to scam a buyer.
If you wanted your refund reliably, and in a reasonable time, you should have requested a return for Item Not As Described which is what you received.
Your seller appears to have been trying to cheat you at every step in this process.
You might also consider reporting to law enforcement the fact that you have received what is probably a stolen iPhone.
