Return request
I purchased a LAB putter. I sent the putter to the manufacturer for a modification. The manufacturer informed me that the putter is a fake. I messaged the seller twice and received no response. Contacted eBay customer service yesterday and explained the issue. Owen opened a return request and assured me that I would get my money back. I received an email this morning that the return request was closed and could not be appealed. I've been trying to contact an agent both by chat and phone with no luck. Any suggestions?

·8 months agoIt’s unfortunate, but it’s safest to assume that any high end popular “new†item you buy on eBay is a flawed unsellable previous return, a fake, or stolen. Obviously not true, but best to treat it that way to avoid disappointment. If the savings isn’t enough so that you would be happy with a flawed or fake item, then buy it from a real store.

perhaps the seller communicated to eBay that you had sent the putter for modification.
I know it was not modified, but there could have been confusion/misinterpretation by eBay thinking the putter was modified and that could cause the return request to be denied.

·8 months agoSince you sent the putter to be modified, are you still within the 30 day window of receiving the putter in order to file a return case? Ya, as others have said, Owen and any other CS rep can not do any of this for buyers. Buyers have to take the proper steps for a return. In this case, the item's reason for return is "Item not as described"

Who's Owen? Return requests can be made by the buyer. Read this. >> eBay Money Back Guarantee policy

Is the item still in your Purchase History? If so, have you tried to open your own Return? I mean, C/S doesn't do it... 🤔

OP8 months agoYes, still in purchase history. I did open a return request and waited the 3 work days. Then since I didn't hear back from seller I went to eBay for help. Owen said he would open a return request as well. He was extremely helpful and interested in my issue.

·8 months agoHi @cnl390
When you don’t hear back from the seller after opening a return request … then your next step is to return to your open request after 3 business days have passed. You ask eBay to step in from there.
You do NOT need some guy name Owen to do it for you. Actually, Owen cannot do it for you. It’s an automated process that takes place in the return request that you opened. [Owen apparently wasn’t aware of that … despite being helpful and interested.]

OP8 months agoI did go to ask eBay to help. In the chat I did Contact Agent and requested a call back. Owen is the person who called.

You DO NOT ask eBay to step in from the Chat. You do it from the ‘return request’ you opened in your Purchase History.
