Return Item was not the Item I sold
Anyone has suggestions to either get my money back or item that I sold. I opened a case with Ebay but seems like it goes to death ears.
I am a seller that sold jeans to a buyer, but buyer claimed that the jeans did not fit. Everything normal until the buyer returned a packaged full of cat treats.
I messaged the buyer but claimed that the post office screwed up and "returned" the package with the jeans to his address. I call boloney since I received a package from the buyers address full of cat treats. Ebay refunded the buyer and now I am asked out on pricey jeans.
I already opened up cases and no results or even a correspondence from Ebay.
Suggestions?

·5 months agoYes. Next time do not wait for eBay to step in. eBay is not going to hold your hand to help run your business. You are responsible for knowing and understanding what tools are available to you and what your responsibilties are as a seller.
The first thing you should have done is report the buyer for return abuse. Then, you should have deducted 50% of their refund. Then you block them and move on. If it was an item that was several hundred dollars, I would also contact their local law enforcement and report the crime to them, and the carrier for fraud.
There is nothing you can do now except report the buyer for return abuse. Probably not worth it at this point since eBay had to step in. This also put a ding on your account.

Ah, @christworks... I missed that eBay had already refunded. I guess my advice is what you'll use next time, @mozmeup.

·5 months agoWhen I read your post I had to go back and re-read the OP's to make sure I understood correctly. What a bummer! They could have taken 50% and hopefully made up some of the loss.
@mozmeup Make sure you document this and claim it on your taxes next year.

·5 months agoSorry but you were obviously scammed but don't expect that EBAY will help you. You cannot PROVE what customer returned to you (EBAY has no idea who is lying).
EBAY has Seller Protection if you are Top Rated Seller and offer 30-Days Return (you can "deduct 50") for "item returned not in same condition". EBAY gives you a deadline of only 2 BUSINESS DAYS after you received the item to file complaint.
If you are NOT top rated then EBAY requires you to have FREE RETURNS (to qualify to Seller Protection).

I'm seeing TRS and that you offer 30-Day Returns. You have the ability and need to deduct 50% from the (full) refund and issue it before the buyer has eBay step in. I know it doesn't make you whole. Sorry you got a scrub buyer.
ETA: If the buyer (who has the jeans again) complains... you can refund the other half when they really send them back. Guessing that they won't send them back since they're still to the good, though.
