Return for "wrong" size
I'd like to purchase a coat that is marked a Size 10. I've tried asking seller for measurements but they are not responding. If I purchase the coat and it arrives either smaller or larger than what is normally considered a size 8, can I return it for a full refund without being charged anything?

·8 months agoYou have reached out to the seller for additional information before making a purchase. Seller has not responded to your query. (I am assuming it has been at least 24 hours since contact.)
By not answering, the seller has shown you how much they value a potential sale. I would not expect the customer service to be any better if you requested a return.
Please. Don't reward this seller. Move on.

Best not to buy the item if you are picky about sizes.
Best to go to a store to try on coats...

OP8 months agoI'm not asking for seller's approval... just more info, and it can be frustrating to ask for it and to be ignored.
Yes, I'm "picky" about sizes in that I would actually like the item to fit me and it would be nice if sellers on eBay would automatically add the measurements rather than people like me having to chase them down.
I'm sure eBay has some kind of policy about such things.

·8 months agoeBay‘s policy is if a clothing item is the size that was specified in the listing, and it merely does not fit you, but was not described incorrectly, even if it did not include specific measurements, then returning it for that reason is considered a remorse return, and if the seller approves it, you would be responsible for return shipping. Because the seller does not offer returns, they would also be allowed to decline the return request entirely. It would be best to simply find a different seller.

OP8 months agoI'm not sure that's true, especially for some vintage sizes which is what I'm talking about here. I sold a coat elsewhere, the tag attached to the coat (an actual part of the coat, not added) of which read size "4". The pit to pit measurements was about 22 inches, not a size 4 in anyone's books. I added those measurements and the buyer knew what they were getting. I find it doubtful that eBay would let a seller get away with selling a size 4 without mentioning anything else about the size. There's a certain expectation when you choose a size and it's not outrageous to expect a certain range.

·8 months agoYou may not be sure it’s true, but I am. Insulting me as you did in your second comment is not going to change the truth.

·8 months agoHi @catrina58
I think you’d be asking for trouble by purchasing it … especially if the listing shows a ‘no return’ policy.
I know what you mean, but talking about a ‘normally considered Size 10’ is meaningless. You really need measurements. 🙂

OP8 months agoI beg to differ. A size 10 is not remotely meaningless. There is a range where that number would make sense and beyond that either way it would not. That's why stores provide size charts.

·8 months agoSize charts can be wildly different between brands, and the size chart at any given store would only apply to the clothing that it is directly connected to.

·8 months agoAnd it’s the size charts that gives ‘Size 10’ meaning.
Without an accompanying size chart OR measurements … saying ‘size 10’ is pretty much meaningless.
[Picky … and argumentative. Then OF COURSE you need measurements! 😉]

OP8 months agoOops, sorry... both mentions of size should read "size 10"
