Return dispute question
Hello! Hoping someone can help. I had a buyer purchase an item; unfortunately notifications went to spam and I didn’t see so didn’t ship. They asked to cancel, which I also didn’t see until after 3 days, so couldn’t cancel. I tried to refund, but eBay says it didn’t go through and to contact them. I had already done that (what a horrible experience) because it said payment was on hold and I think advice was to wait for payment then refund. Why won’t this go through even though payment might be on hold?

·11 months agoIn the future, when you have active listings and potential sales or returns, please check your ebay account directly through ebay. Never depend on email notifications for sales or return request notifications. You should be checking your account at least once a day, if not more frequently.

While the payment is on hold, you have to cover the refund.
You need to provide a payment source to pay the refund.
When the hold is released on the buyers payment, the funds will be sent to you.

·11 months agoI am not sure but it sounds like perhaps ebay may have refunded your customer and then they took the refund from your payout.
In general, as far as my experience goes, payments are put on hold for infrequent sellers up to 30 days.
If a refund needs to be issued for a return or canceled order then it comes from YOUR payment source while the funds are still on hold at ebay. This means your checking account, credit card, paypal. However you pay ebay for your fees then they will charge this payment source for the return or canceled order.
Of course, this could be a glitch, there have been posts about glitches. But due to the time frame that you sold the item and the fact that your payments would have been held up to 30 days for being an infrequent seller, my belief is that ebay refunded the customer. If that is the case you would not be able to refund the customer because it is already done.
You absolutely need to contact ebay via chat. You should also check your seller dashboard to see if you got hit with any defects. Check your payment transactions too. And your messages. Ebay would have (should have) sent messages about this to your ebay account.
This is just from my experience....someone else may have different experiences and should be along soon.
Good luck.
