Return Claims requesting a picture of defective item
On one hand I'm thankful that eBay is requesting a photo for defective or damaged items when buyers request a return. However, with electrical or mechanical items defects may not be visually obvious. For example, I purchased a printer that does not print. The only way I was able to submit my claim was to take a picture of a blank page. I had to wonder how someone goes about obtaining visual proof and demonstrate that an item is nonfunctional.

·2 years agoYou would just end a photo of the printer. eBay never said you had to demo the issue. The photo thing is better suited to things like the wrong item was sent or showing shipping damage.

·4 years agoYeah, there are going to be situations where this process is not really going to work, but on the other hand when someone says "I got my plate in a million pieces" it will work because they are going to have to provide that image.
I think they are just defaulting the process to require the images all for those that have the process released on their account. I would rather that, than eBay picking and choosing what categories to require the images on etc.

·2 years agoTime to boycott eBay. Last time I had this problem I never bought anything on eBay for over a year. Previously, I bought thousands of dollars of items from eBay sellers, like gold coins and other expensive items. I decided to try again and bought an item that was defective and the seller agreed to a return. Same photo problem. I'm done with eBay.
