·1 week agoYes. Refunds MUST be back to the original payment method. Unfortunately, that forces the bank to rescind the cash back elements.
About 8 months ago I had a large purchase that resulted in about a $100 credit. I had used that credit for something, As it turned out I shortly had to return the item which resulted in a $100 negative amount on my card. Took a while to pay that off with new credits.

·1 week agoMany times if using a card with points or buying rewards, merchants must credit back to that payment source, they cant issue a credit to another source

·1 week agoI had mine set to “credit” and received the refund back to my card anyway, which dissolved my Capitol One Shopping rebate. I’m not even sure the toggle functions.
