Return b/c of purchase of 2 same items by mistake
I was looking for an Aux Coolant Pump on Ebay, a seller had several of the same thing, I looked at two of the same and made an offer on one of them, I received an offer from seller on the item I thought was the one I had made offer on and this was his counter offer, so I accepted and purchased it, the next day I received an email from seller asking if I meant to order two on the Pumps, and I replied I only wanted one. And I seen where he had accepted my offer and so it was automatically paid for by my credit card. When I received two tracking numbers I once again contacted seller and stated I only wanted one of the Pumps. I put in a Return Request for one of them before I even received it, and he Canceled the Return. So today I received two Aux Coolant Pumps at $918. and $864., so this is no small expense to absorb, when the seller knew I had purchased from him in good faith and let him know I only needed one, the other was by mistake. I think that the process should be that the buyer should be able to decide at the time of the seller accepting the bid to pay for it at that time. I have since put in a Return Request on the second item, and see if seller will take that one since it was the one he accepted the bid on and was cheaper of the two. If not I don't beleive I will be making anymore purchases on Ebay.

·8 months agoIt's a car part...eBay allows you to just return it easily. The seller should have been very aware of this policy as they are responsible to pay for the shipping back now, regardless of wrong part or "just don't want it".

·8 months agoDoes this seller have a "no return policy"? What was the reason you gave for the return. Also is this within 30 days?
When you say "I think that the process should be that the buyer should be able to decide at the time of the seller accepting the bid to pay for it at that time."
Here is why the change was made. A lot of buyers weren't paying so Ebay changed it. Blame the bidders over the past 2 decades who didn't pay. It was a constant problem.

I’m really sorry this happened, but it seems kind of wrong to have made TWO mistakes … and then to blame eBay for them.
eBay instituted the ‘autopay option’ because of the number of buyers who didn’t pay after their offer was accepted. It does have has its problems, but was thought to be needed.
I hope you made it clear to the seller that you expect to pay for the return … AND to have the original shipping cost withheld from the refund. That will make it more likely seller will accept the return.
BTW, you should have requested a CANCELLATION of the second order, rather than file a return request, when you have nothing to return.
Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving! 😊
