    retrun shipping costs SCAM

EBay Motors is a SCAM!!! YOUR seller sent an item that doesnt fit! Now I have to pay $19 in shipping costs to retrun it? The only way I can get credit for my shippoing costs is to setup a PalPay Account? Where does it say that under Terms & Condistions this is the case. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!!!

    Hi @macald6091

How would you like to be paid for return shipping?  There are limited possibilities.

A PayPal account can be opened in minutes … and is the easiest way to pay for purchases from numerous companies.

With all due respect, I don’t think you know what ‘scam’ actually means.

Using a 3rd Party Platform to give a refund instead of the original Credit is a SCAM!!! Not necessary to provide bank info on another website to get my money back.  Last time I checked Amazon, Walmart, and thousands of other on-line retailers don’t follow the same protocol.  Horrible business model for refunds.

@macald6091 You don’t need a PayPal account to get a refund of your original purchase price to eBay either.  That refund goes back to your original payment source.

You only need a way for a foreign SELLER to send you money for return shipping.  That money is supplemental to what you originally paid for the item.

You’re comparing apples to oranges.  Not everything you don’t understand is a scam.

I don’t think you understand. EBay motors requires me to setup a PalPay Account to get a refund for paying the shipping costs to return the item. I have to use a CC to pay for the shipping costs but have to get refunded on PayPal. WTH is that!  EVERYTIME I have used a CC on-line to buy a product or get refunded, the original revenue source was refunded!!!  Not once in my years, years & years…..of buying on-line a retailer required a 3rd party account to get my money back!  They are SCAMMING in one way orther!  I hope they busted one time & have to pay billions for shay accounting!!!

    @macald6091

Perhaps we can resume this conversation when you’re feeling less agitated … as I don’t believe I’m the one who is ‘not understanding’.

But I will try one more time to explain.

It is the SELLER who is reimbursing your shipping costs.  Your shipping money went to a shipping company … NOT to the seller … so the seller isn’t able to send it back to you via the method you paid.

The seller must use a payment PROCESSOR to reimburse you … such as PayPal.

Your refund can only go back to your credit card company if you were being reimbursed by the shipping compony you bought the shipping label from … which you are not.

That’s the best I can do to explain.  I strongly recommend you buy elsewhere in the future … as you and eBay do not appear to be a good fit.  Have a good one!  ðŸ˜Š

Nothing wrong with the OP buying from eBay.  Just needs to figure out how to keep from buying from an overseas seller.

The seller is from China, they have to send you the money to pay for the return shipping and it can't be done through Ebay.

It doesn't have to be Pay Pal, you and the seller can work out another way they can send you the money.

Unless you want to pay to ship it back to China, you'll need someway the seller can pay you.

it's not about a "refund". That would indeed come through the "platform"

it's about getting the "return shipping costs".

via the "platform", you can not be "refunded" more than you paid. Coding does not support that.

ETA: doesn't mean the seller will actually ever refund, and that they will not snatch back the return shipping funds, but those shipping funds just can't go through the "platform" transaction when buying off-shore because as explained.............  seller can't do a label for you

    It's not for a refund.

If the seller is in China, they have to send you the money to pay for the return shipping.

If they are asking you to set up a Paypal account to send you money for a label it sounds like they are in another country which means they do not have access to usps labels.  Unless something has changed, it doesn't cost anything to set up a PP account and you don't have to keep using it.

Did the seller send the wrong item? If it's not as described in the photos and listing, you can open a Return, citing a 'Not as described' reason and the seller will pay the return shipping costs. If you've already opened one and selected 'Doesn't fit' (a remorse reason), that would be why you're being charged for shipping.

If the seller is asking now for your PayPal address, it sounds like they're willing to pay you for your out-of-pocket, no?

You chose "doesn't fit" as the return reason. That's a remorse return.

    You did this to yourself.

Had you selected "wrong item sent" as the return reason, the seller would be paying the return shipping.

No, you bought an item that doesn’t fit. Just sounds like you didn’t do enough research.
