[Resolved] I need help! I cannot get my refund. eBay customer service does not help at all.
Summary: buyone365 shared their experience with eBay customer service, detailing issues with obtaining a refund for a faulty laptop purchased from a certified re-manufacturer. Despite contacting eBay support multiple times, they were directed to handle the matter with the seller directly. The seller accepted the return but stated that eBay's platform did not allow refunds after 90 days. christworks suggested opening a chargeback through the bank, while other participants offered various resources and advice. Ultimately, buyone365 received a resolution through their bank.
Hi,
Thank you everyone for your help. @christworks , I followed your advice and my bank resolved it for me. I got the full refund. Thanks so much!
Hi,
I contact eBay three times, all repeating the same thing by reading some scripts, none being helpful.
They cannot find me a supervisor to talk to.
They cannot write me a message that they will try to find a supervisor even they told me they would try to,
They don't want to write to the seller what they told me.
WHAT DO THEY DO!!!
I need help!!!
This is what has happened.
I got a re-manufactured laptop from an eBay authenticated re-manufacturer (there was a badge but I just found the badge was gone). The laptop went completely dead after 3 months, which means it is out the 30-day money return policy. eBay support asked me to contact the seller myself, which I did. The seller provided a return label. I returned the laptop (within 12-month warranty period provided by the seller) and requested full refund. The seller said eBay does not allow them to refund via the platform after 90 days. eBay support said there is nothing they could do.

·2 months agoNothing stops the seller from refunding you directly via paypal. However through ebay they are correct. You are time limited. Of course, you had the reason why it failed at step one in your initial statement: "I got a re-manufactured laptop..."

If you returned the item to the seller before receiving a refund, it sounds as if you are very out of luck -- there is nothing that eBay can do to force the seller to send you a refund now that the seller has the item back.
If you owned this item for 30 months (!) before it went bad, that's 2-1/2 years!
That's way outside the window for returns, as well as for chargebacks.

·2 months agoI think you may be out of luck on this unfortunately. Can you still get the laptop back? Will the seller help at all with the repair maybe?

·2 months agoHave you opened a return case? If not, select the item in your purchase history and look under more actions.
No need to contact the seller.

·2 months ago · Edited@buyone365 Can you please tell us more about what happend. We are not eBay employees, but we can direct you in the right direction if you can provide more details, including dates of what happened, steps you took, steps the seller took, etc. Thanks. You are welcome to tag me so I see your post.
You are posting on the return board. So I assume you returned an item you received. Did you open an offical return on eBay or did you just send the item back to the seller at their request without opening an offical return on eBay?

OP2 months agoThanks. I updated add my story in the post. My case has passed the 30-day window.

·2 months ago@buyone365 Thanks. I'm going to assume in your edit you mean the laptop died after 30-days (not months), given you also said you returned it within the 12-month warranty period.
Did the badge look like this:
If there have been issues from other buyers, they may have been removed from the program. eBay heavily monitors the sellers they give that badge to.
If the seller took the laptop back on the condition they would issue you a refund, but they have not done so by now, you can try opening a chargeback with your bank or credit card (however you paid). The timeframe to do this varies, but many give you at least 180-days (6 months) from the date of purchase. You probably want to talk to them, and if you are within the timeframe open up the chargeback. Be ready to provide evidence to support your claim. This will include screen shots of the eBay order page that shows the order number, the seller's name and user name, amount you paid, and relevant date(s). Any screen shots of messages between you and the seller, especially if they agreed to honor their warranty and directed you to send it back. The tracking number of the return, and screen shots showing it was delivered. You get the idea.
