Reshipping a package and new order number?
Okay so eBay apparently didn’t have my city in correctly and it was sent to another island instead of on the island I’m on. I live in Hawaii. So, because of the stupid error, USPS just sent it back rather than let me intercept or do a forward address change…
The seller is very generous and I’m not blaming them, while I could’ve been aware of the address, the fact that the zip code and city was all that changed made a big deal into this massive part of issues.
But anyways, how long would it take for me to receive a new tracking order number? The reason I ask is because I ordered a Godzilla and it went to my PO Box just fine from another seller but I didn’t get a tracking number, just had to wait til it just showed up one day in the box!
Unsure if I’ll have to just wait for the new package and not be able to track it the second time or will I get a new tracking number when they reship the package?

Item #1: This was ordered from Seller A. The address you provided when you placed your order was not correct. Seller A did their job and sent it to the address you provided when you order. USPS correctly refused to allow you to intercept or forward the package. (I'm glad they did not let you do that!) The package is now on its way back to Seller A.
Item #2: This was ordered from Seller B. You received Item #2 at your PO Box, but Seller B did not provide you a tracking number.
Your question is whether Seller A will give you a tracking number. I presume you mean after they get your package back and reship it to you using the correct address. Do I have all of this right?
Seller A and Seller B are two different people. I do not know why Seller A did not upload a tracking number for you. They should have. That's on the seller, not eBay. I do not know what type of Godzilla you ordered: A doll or something small like a patch? Or a Godzilla card? There are a limited number of categories and situations where a seller can ship using eBay Standard Envelope. That does not come with a traditional tracking number. I don't know if that applies to your situation.
With regards to whether Seller A will provide you with another tracking number, you need to ask them. I presume they will. This is something you need to talk to Seller A about. To be honest, Seller A does not have to refund you or reship the package. The address mix up is your fault for not changing it prior to placing your order. If the seller is willing to resend you the package, I imagine at the very least they would want you to pay for shipping again. Unless you are having to rebuy it, they won't have to upload a tracking number to eBay. You'd have to ask them to message it to you.
You do need to know it may take 3 to 4 weeks for Item #1 to get back to Seller A. This won't be a fast process.

OP5 months agoThey said they’d resend it! They weren’t rude about it! It’s just going back in good shape! I was under the impression that the address was good but the city and zip code was different… It’s resolved but was just curious on the duration of how long I’d wait! That’s all! Not being impatient or rude about it cuz I’ve stated it is an error on my part

·5 months agoI didn't say your seller was rude. It is very kind of them to reship it. I'm unsure why you are asking a bunch of strangers what your seller will do with regards to providing you a tracking number. That's something you need to ask them. What we can tell you is that return packages are not a priority for USPS. When I had a buyer halfway across the country make a similar mistake, it took 3-1/2 weeks to get it back. I don't know where your seller lives, but if the return is coming from Hawaii, I could easily see it taking most of April to get back to them.

OP5 months agoAlso, the Godzilla was a SH Monsterarts figure! The address was the same as it was for this seller but the only difference the city and zip code were different! I hadn’t touched eBay again after the Godzilla nonsense with the postal service! So, I went back to eBay expecting it to be shipped to my PO Box like last time… But it got sent to a whole different island instead!

OP5 months agoAnd also in response to this the top one; the seller told me to call the post office to intercept it, to change the address and have it redelivered or intercepted as I said. This thing was entirely new to me and I didn’t know what to do asides from just try to listen to their instructions. This may seem stupid or dumb but that was what I was instructed to do and in a blind panic, I did that, went through all that and realized I can’t intercept it cuz it’s not my package.

Why would you be trying to change the delivery of a package that is not yours? If it isn't your package, what is your role in this transaction? Make that make sense to me.
It also makes little sense why a seller would tell you to do a package intercept. Sellers run a risk of losing protection by eBay if a buyer were to succeed at doing that, and then later claim the item was not recieved at the address they provided at check out. Your seller is either foolish or they were banking on USPS not helping you, so they told you to go do that so they don't have to deal with you. If the latter is the case, methinks your seller is not gonig to resend your order, no matter how understanding they seem to you.

OP5 months agoI think it was mostly just a misunderstanding on both our ends. I thought it meant I myself could change the destination address and I think they assumed the same.. I live in Hawaii and they live in China! The reviews they have are always postive and good! Only one bad review! And there was many other buyers with positve feedback stating they had issues and the seller was very generous and helped them the best they could!
