refusing to refund money
On April 9th, I placed an order for an item on Ebay. Item was cancelled immediately as i found one at a lower price. A few days later, i noticed that the cancellation was rejected. I sent the seller a direct email and asked that this be canceled. I was informed that it had already shipped. When it arrived, I rejected the item and it was returned to the seller. I have proof that they received it. The seller is not responding to my emails. I have received no support from ebay. The amount was almost 200.00. Despite the fact that the seller said they would issue a refund(I have email) they have not responded. I am now going through my credit card and so far the seller is saying they dont have to refund because i didnt follow the return policy. Regardless, this is wrong. They already have the item and i do not have my refund. What else can I do. I have given the seller a bad review and will more than likely be closing my ebay account as their "money back" policy is a lie.

You didn’t follow eBay’s Money Back Guarantee … so really are not in a position to judge its effectiveness.
I support your consideration to close your eBay account … since you seem to want to follow your own rules to handle cancellations, returns, and refunds … which isn’t fair to your trading partners.

·3 years agoItems should always be returned through Ebay's formal returns process activated by going through your Purchase History, finding the item in question, then select "return this item" from the options.

·3 years agoYour credit card considers REFUSED DELIVERY to be a valid method of return.
Stop talking to the seller. And eBay cannot help: Once you go to your credit card, eBay has no part in the decision.
Just provide your credit card issuer that seller email promising your refund, and the tracking number showing that the item @Anonymous was delivered back to the seller, to get your refund.

·3 years agoYou can request whatever you want it does not mean the seller is going to grant the request. the seller had an auction / or buy it know you accepted paid and he shipped the item . Buyers like in any business can't just not accept a item they bought because of buyers remorse life doesn't work this way .
Just as sellers have to comply to sets of rules when selling whether via auction or buy it now , buyers also have to follow rules if they decide they don't want the item . Which you did not follow.
Just because you found the item for less money doesn't mean you should be allowed to cancel you entered a legal binding contract once you bought the item and the seller has no obligation to accept a cancellation at this point .
If the item was not as described or damaged understand , but this was not the case by your own admission .

·3 years agoHello vmabel2012, as sellers we do have the option to reject a cancellation request if the item its already been shipped. You can also wait until you get the item and then return it if the seller accepts returns. You have to do this through a “return requestâ€, this is eBay policy. If you send the item back without opening a case, eBay will not be aware of the process and cannot help you out. eBay does have the “eBay money back guaranteedâ€. In this case since you already sent back the item, i recommend opening a return case and adding the tracking number which shows item its delivered. The seller has about 3-4 days to send a refund, if not, eBay will automatically issue the refund.

·3 years agoI don't see any bad feedback for your seller from you on this account. Looks like it was removed unless you have some other account. While I do believe it is not right to keep both the item and your money I also believe you should have read up on how to return an item for a refund.

The buyer refused delivery of the item

If you just followed eBay's policies this would have been a smoother process for you.
But you will most likely win your chargeback case regardless, now that you have gone that route eBay no longer has a say in this refund.

·3 years agoBuyers cannot 'cancel' items; they can only 'request' that a seller do it. If the seller has a system set up where once an order is placed, it moves to the 'shipping dept.' for locating/packing/labeling and piling in the corner with all the other 'sold' items.
Buyers cannot 'refuse' a delivery; you must accept and open a 'return request' (and that can also be denied if the seller does NOT accept returns).
Ebay is not Walmart. You cannot willy/nilly 'buy things and then shop around'. This site is made up of ONLY individual sellers and each seller does their listings as they state.
