Processing a Refund request after “Case Closed “
Summary: dennimahave-0 shared an issue about a failed attempt to cancel and return an item bought in error. The seller advised contacting the courier, resulting in the item being returned to the seller. However, dennimahave-0 is unable to request a refund on eBay due to closing the initial case. shire123 pointed out that closing the case may block the refund through eBay and suggested a chargeback as an alternative. grand-and-glorious-purpose commented that the actions taken were not in line with standard procedures.
I recently bgt an item in error and requested a cancellation. This was rejected as the item was already shipped.
I then requested a return on Ebay in anticipation of goods arriving but the seller suggested I contact their courier and request goods be returned to them and not me which I did.
The courier didn’t deliver the goods to me but returned them back to the seller as I requested. I then canceled the return request I had initiated on Ebay as I had nothing to return. Case closed.
After chatting to the seller they advised I now need to process as Request for Refund via Ebay and there’s the problem- when I try to submit a claim I end up back at “Case Closed” every time
How to I get my money back?

You don't.
There wasn't a single thing left for you to do that wasn't the opposite of what you were supposed to do.

·2 weeks agoYou can't get anything back from ebay. Your big mistake was closing the case. Now your only option is to possibly go through your payment source and file a chargeback. The tracking on the item should show if it has been returned to the seller.
I don't believe the seller's suggestion exists and is pretty dishonest. If the seller has the item back they can easily process a refund themselves.
