Procedure for the seller who accepts returns, with buyer paying the return shipping cost.
I recently changed my policy for returns and now offer 14 day returns, with buyer paying for the return shipping label cost.
A buyer recently initiated a return request for the purchase of a Mexican sterling cuff bracelet. Reason for return, doesn't fit. This might be a remorse return, but remorse returns are why I changed my policy from no returns to the new policy.
I received a notification from eBay for the return having been approved, and that a hold had been placed on my funds to cover the refund amount. No problem. Then I received a message from the buyer asking me to advise them on what they need to do to return the item. I don't know what eBay prompts the buyer to do next, so I can not advise the buyer, only to ask for them to ship the item back to me in the original packaging material and use the same box. Attach a label they print out from their side of the situation. I'm assuming they are prompted to purchase and prepare the shipping label, after they click on the return request and it's automatically approved. Is that correct? I told them their refund will be in the amount they had paid, less the amount of the return shipping label.
I don't see anything on my side of the eBay transaction that I need to do, just wait until I receive the item in the same condition, then I will approve the refund.
What is the current process for the buyer in this transaction and what are they prompted to do on their side of it? I do purchase on eBay but haven't returned anything in order to have experienced it from that side of the transaction.

You need to find the blower in your Purchase History and press the big, blue 'Return this item' button. Cite your reason for returning it, Confirm and Submit. Note that yours is a remorse reason (like the OP's buyer) so you will be required to pay for your return shipping, too. Good luck.

·3 years agoBuyer pays for it to be returned. Just wait for it with their tracking. They can do the USPS post office thing to return it. That would be the simplest. If tracking never shows up then I guess they decided to keep it. I am going the assume they know nothing about eBay shipping labels. They are paying for shipping so There's nothing to do.

·3 years agoYou as the seller are not obligated to give them any directions. eBay tells you what to do. They clearly tell you that as the buyer you can either print out the label or take it to the post office with QR code and they will print it out. eBay gives them a fairly long time to do this...if they don't by the given date the return will close and they can no longer return it.

·3 years agohaving returned 3 items last week.
This is what happened:
1- The seller had to accept the return, one seller refused to accept the return I believe Ebay made him, after I contacted them
2-I received a return label
3-and a message from ebay to return within this time frame
4-I can follow the tracking, and see when the seller received the item. I am assuming the seller can see that too
5-After the item is delivered ebay gives a timeframe when a refund should be issued,
6-I assume they will intervene for a non-refunded buyer or seller if he claims damage etc
Hope that was helpful
