Paying VAT again after repair, who's responsible?
I received a faulty item. The seller and I came to an agreement I would send the article back and he would send me a replacement (it was originally shipped with gsp and I paid VAT for it).
I returned it and the seller send it back to me. He claims he send it as 'returned goods' and put the original invoice in the envelope. I am now asked by the post to pay VAT for the item, eventhough I allready paid VAT for this item upon check out. Maybe I can get the VAT back from the post or ebay but I will definitely not get the administration cost back (6 euro).
Who is responsible for this (VAT and/or administration cost)? Upon discussing how to come to a solution after I received the faulty item I had specifically said I did not want to pay VAT again for the item but now this has happened what I was worried about. It is a total of 12 euro, almost half of what the original item cost so it is a lot extra, also the seller accidentally put a higher price on than what I paid for the item increasing the VAT.

·3 years agoSeller have zero way to control VAT charges. Im not even sure if once you did the return if VAT would be refunded.
VAT is always responsibility of the buyer.
