Partial refund offered, accepted, then Seller opens case.
Good day all. I recently purchased a large group of Star Wars items from a seller in Canada. I am in the U.S. of A. and paid a hefty sum for shipping. The seller commented on how much he loved his figures and vehicles and even had them on display in his basement. Not once did he mention any missing or broken parts and with his comment on loving and displaying them I never thought to ask.
When I went through everything, many accessories to both figures and vehicles were missing as well as some broken parts. Of course with my luck the missing items are on the pricey side to buy original and not 3D printed. I messaged him about this and he said at least one part fell off in his vehicle. After going back and forth with him, I finally started a return claim. He offered me a partial refund, which I accepted. He immediately opened a case asking eBay to review it.
I don’t want something for nothing, but I feel like he was deceptive knowing that parts were missing and broke. The amount of the refund would only cover a part of the things needed. How can he do this when he sent the partial refund offer and I accepted and what are the chances eBay will side with him?

OP1 year agoThank you all for the replies. As a seller I know what it’s like to deal with an uncooperative buyer. That’s one reason I tried to work with him for so long. Another is the pain it would be to have to ship it all back. It all came in a U-Haul shorty wardrobe box, so it was quite a bit. I really hope for his sake that eBay will honor the partial refund he offered instead of giving me a full refund even though there were many more issues with the items I did not mention. Plus, I wouldn’t feel right getting a full refund and getting to keep the stuff. I’ll post the outcome when I hear from eBay. Thanks again.

He can because Ebay allows him to appeal the partial refund. He will most likely lose and the case will be closed. What you really should have done was filed a "not described" case against the seller and returned the item. Cause if you had to go back and forth many times to come to an agreement on a refund then chances were the seller was going to be unhappy instead of trying to resolve the issue. Leave appropriate feedback.

Isn't that what they did? and chose to accept a partial rather than return.

Seller to seller...I suggest blocking this person so he doesn't make a purchase from you.
Sounds like a vindictive seller so be careful.
