order is being returned as non deliverable /buyer says its correct addr
Summary: cappers60 encountered an issue with a package returned by USPS as undeliverable despite having the correct address. They've faced this issue before and received no help from USPS previously. bonanza125 suggested two options: refunding the buyer and seeking a new one or having the buyer repurchase the item. jonathanbrightlight asked if the post office offered to reship it for free, and cappers60 found it was due to a barcode error attributed to Pirate Ship, who then issued a refund. Opinions varied on whether it was the seller's responsibility to cover reshipment, with some advising against it and others recommending taking care of the customer. cappers60 appreciated the advice and clarity provided by others.
thanks for all the advice.

·3 weeks agoYou should NEVER ask 'what do I do'.
You should ALWAYS 'take care' of your customer. If the address was good and error on USPS- then it's error on YOU.
So, YOU should pay to reship it.

·3 weeks ago · Edited@stainlessenginecovers I'm gonig to be a touch passive agressive here. You know I have much respect for you and agree with you on a lot of things, but definitely not this advice.
The seller isn't an expert in what is a good address and what isn't. They don't need to be. eBay's policies fully protect the seller in this case. If USPS cannot deliver it, it is on the buyer. Period. For all we know there is a loose dog on the property which is why it cannot be delivered.
@cappers60 If you really want to know what is going on, contact your buyer's local post office. Explain the situation and see what they tell you. They will know far more than your local post office. Whatever you do, know that the error is not on you and eBay does not put it on you. As long as you shipped to the address the buyer gave you, you are under no obligation to issue a refund at all. If it upsets the buyer, then he needs to pay a visit to his local post office to see why they won't deliver it.
Edit to add I see the update in a post below mine. I'll my original post intact.

·3 weeks ago · EditedWell you have two options here which the buyer will not like either of them. You refund the buyer and then they repurchase the item which you recoup shipping cost. There will be no guarantee this will not happen again or you refund the buyer then relist the item to find a new buyer to purchase the item. You shown evidence to the buyer that the item was returned to sender as undeliverable. That's not your fault.

OP3 weeks agoThanks! I went to my p o and they said it was their fault. For some reason, item never left my town....

·3 weeks agoThat happens sometimes. Did the post office offer to reship it at no extra cost? I haven't had that happen personally but others have reported that, when it was clearly their fault.
cappers60
OP3 weeks agoNo they said it was Pirate Ship that made the error. Something wrong with the barcode. P.ship refunded me!

·3 weeks agoThat's good to hear. I haven't used PirateShip in a long time, but I'm glad they took care of it.

·3 weeks agoWhat exactly did the PO manager tell you to resolve this issue? What you would want is exact what @jonathanbrightlight suggested which is for the PO to reship it at no extra cost.
