OOPS!! How can I undo a return+refund?
Summary: ronbaby initiates a discussion with a concern about undoing a return and refund. However, all posts and responses, including those from bonanza125, kensgiftshop, and house*of*paws, contain only 'None' as their content, so no detail is provided to further elaborate on the issue or suggest solutions.
Time for me to fall on my sword! I screwed up!
The story is that I've been trying for some time now to replace my trusty old ASUS home WiFI AC router with another ASUS AC WiFi router, but something a bit newer & faster. This is had not gone well. ASUS made a few changes to how their routers worked and these changes were enough to cause me to mistakenly think that the THREE different (inexpensive) used routers that I purchased from three different eBay sellers were "bricked" & totally defective. In each case I requested a return+refund and in each case the seller promptly gave me a full refund (including tax & shipping) and DID NOT ask me to ship the "defective" routers back. (I kept them around and was planning on taking them to the local e-recycling place. It's a good thing that I didn't take them yet!)
So anyway, after much additional gnashing of teeth, tearing of hair, and some newfound enlightenment I now know to a 100% certainty that there wasn't a darn thing wrong with any of these 3 routers. I just was ignorant of how the newer ASUS routers do things.
I'm an honest guy, and I want to do the Right Thing now and pay the sellers for all three routers. I don't have any use for them now, since I even bought a 4th replacement which also works 100%, but my requests for refunds was due to my ignorance of ASUS firmware changes in all 3 cases, so since these mistaken refunds were all my fault I want to make things right for the sellers. I'm just not 100% sure how to do that in a "safe" way that will NOT make either the sellers or eBay mad at me.
So, should I just paypal the original price+shipping+tax back to the same seller accounts that sent me the refunds in each case, or what? Will anybody (in particular, eBay) get mad at me if just I do that?
P.S. Also, in the first 2 cases, I already left neutral feedback saying that the routers were bricked, and obviously, I'd like to revise those feedbacks now. How can I do that as a buyer?
P.S. The total amount is less than twenty bucks in each case, but it's the principal of the thing. I want to do the Right Thing.

·4 months agoHi @ronbaby
I definitely would leave a Follow-up to each of your two neutrals. [There is no lime limit for leaving a Reply or Follow-up to a feedback.]
Explain in the Follow-up that 1) you made a mistake; 2) that you are willing to either repay the seller OR return the item at your expense (seller’s choice); and 3) PRAISE the seller for the exemplary way they handled the initial problem you only thought you had.
That will make BOTH your feedback profiles look better … AND will not waste a Feedback Revision Request on removing a neutral (in case there’s still time for the seller to send a FRR).
Then contact each of the sellers with a profuse apology AND to ask which they prefer … the item OR their money returned.
You will make each of the seller’s day. I guarantee it! 😊

·4 months agoI'd contact the sellers and you two can work out something.
As far as the feedback, I think it's been to long to change it.

·4 months agoWell as far as Ebay is concerned the case is closed cause the seller issued you a refund. It's over with. You could reach out to the seller and make arrangements to pay them another way and ask them if they want to send an revision for the feedback so you can change it to positive. Now I do applaud you for doing the right thing but if the seller doesn't message you back then do nothing.
