On 17 October e bay emailed me to say that an electric saw i had bought was unsafe not to use
The seller did not respond and I can not get help from eBay as the sale was more than 90 days old.
As the item can not be used should I get a refund ?

OP8 months agoSpent numerous hours trying to do it with eBay customer service on line but no progress as all stopped at 90 days !
Tried several times e mailing the selller but no response at all.
Now the only contact listed for the manufacturer returns to EBay as their shop 🤦â€â™€ï¸

·8 months agoIt's unlikely the seller was the manufacture.
Look up the brand on Google and see what you can find out about a recall or the manufacture.

·9 months agoAs already said check with the manufacturer. Sites like ebay tend towards broad generalisations on recalls, whereas the manufacturers site will usually list the serial numbers of affected items.

·9 months agoThis was probably a manufacturer's recall. Use your search engine to find details and procedures,

·9 months agoeBays Money Back Guarantee is for up to 30 days from date of delivery. If too much time has passed eBay can no longer help.
You can try filing a chargeback through your payment source.

·8 months agoIt should be noted that manufacturers will not honour warranties if the product was not sold by and authorized dealer.
And many online sellers, not just on eBay, are not authorized dealers.
While the OP certainly should contact the manufacturer-- there may be a replacement part or other compensation-- for a refund the best bet is likely to be a credit card chargeback.

Most credit cards allow only 120 days for chargeback claims. Some allow 180 days.
Put it on your to do list at #1

·8 months agoAt least two people who I have recommended do chargebacks at 10 months (after receipt of item) have posted back that that were successful. [This is especially true when fraud is involved.]
Credit card companies are hesitant to reveal exactly how much time a customer has to do a chargeback. It never hurts to try when you have a righteous claim.
