No refund after return?
Has anyone else had to deal with this? I bought an item, it arrived super damaged (packed poorly) and unusable/would require a lot of money to fix, seller did not insure the item so couldn't get any kind of regular refund, so had to open a case and get Ebay to let me ship the item back for a return and refund. It was delivered with signature on May 6th, but the case has just been stuck since then with no updates about the delivery or anything. Last update was from May 1st when I used Ebay's label to drop off the item.
I have tried calling Ebay since it said I'd get the refund after delivery, but they just keep saying "wait 24-48 hours" or "its been approved and you'll get your refund" but there's been no updates or emails or anything. What should I say/do to get the case moving along? I have pictures of packing the item up for the return to show it was securely packed and everything was there if they need it. It was a lot of money too ($1000+), and I've been going back and forth on this case for over a month between damaged item, seller not telling me they didn't insure it, trying to return it, etc. 😞

When was the return returned/delivered to and signed for by the seller?
If you paid for the item with a credit card, the refund goes back to your payment source. Have you checked your c.c. account to see if the credit was processed?

OP4 months agoThe return was delivered and signed for on May 6th. No refund on my Paypal, and the other half was paid for in Ebay gift card so I can't get all my money back from a charge back unfortunately. Planning on calling ebay again today to see if they can get me in contact with someone who can help. I don't know what else to do.

·4 months agoMissing something here...
Opened an eBay claim...got a return label from eBay?...tracking shows 'delivered'? to seller and got a signature.
Item was purchased in the USA?...and not 'drop shipping'? from another country.

OP4 months agoYes item was purchased on Ebay and shipped via UPS, with signature, to USA from USA. Return label supplied from Ebay was same, UPS with signature, same addresses. Ebay support on the phone said they saw it was delivered, but still no refund. Item was not something you can drop ship really, it a computer.

·4 months agoHi @sknidi0
Have you considered getting refunded through your credit card company (or whatever payment source you used)? It would close the case on eBay, but should get you a quick refund.

OP4 months ago@elizabeth@ebay @devon@ebay Would either of you guys be able to help me with this case or help me to get in contact with someone who could? I made a high-value return and have not gotten refunded. Tracking shows delivery with a signature confirmation on May 6th via an eBay-provided label. When I got the label, it said I would get a refund after delivery, but it has been 10 days so I am worried that it is stuck/there is an issue somewhere.

Did you actually open an official return case through eBay, or did you just return the item without opening an official case?
You state that "I've been going back and forth on this case for over a month," so I'm wondering if the seller dragged out their excuses beyond the 30 day return period.
What date did you open your case, and what type of case did you open?
And how are you communicating with eBay (phone, text, email)?

OP4 months agoYes it was officially through ebay, "item damaged" return reason, case has been open since Apr 17, and was going back and forth with the seller before then asking about a refund or return too. I have only been talking with ebay through their agent phone calls that you get to through their chat box on help pages. I did the "return item" option, and then seller made it a case since it was originally a "no returns" listing after I was talking to them. Through the phone calls I was able to get ebay to issue me a shipping label, and that was on the case page/got emails for it/etc. But no updates to the case page since May 1, even though the phone agents say they can see it was delivered with signature. I am worried about it dragging on too long too.

·4 months agoSellers have 48 hrs to refund after delivery. When they don't you need to return the 'return case' and click the 'escalate' to ebay.
sknidi0
OP4 months agoThat's the thing, it has been escalated this whole time. It says "return escalated" on the item in purchase history and "The return case for this item was escalated to eBay Customer Support." And then going onto the case page it just says "The case is pending" but it has said that since forever at this point. I don't know if it is stuck or what. The only options on the page are to close the case. I wish I could double escalate it...

Hi @sknidi0. High value returns often have a lengthy returns process so this is not abnormal, especially being in a pending status after moving back and forth during reviews. I am hopeful you will receive an update today, however, please do not be discouraged as we see this often and is a normal part of the process in many cases.

What seems to be complicating this case is the amount of extraneous communication between you and the seller, and you and eBay, and the seller and eBay.
This should have been a simple "Return" case, which could easily have been handled with a few keystrokes, and no back-and-forth communications whatsoever.
For your future reference (should you need to do anymore eBay returns), it is only necessary to do the following:
Go to your "Purchases" page, and find the item which you need to return.
On the far right column is a series of blue ovals -- click on the one that says "More actions," and scroll down to "Return this item" -- click on that.
You will be sent to the "Return request" page.
Just follow the instructions -- for a damaged or defective item, you will need to provide photos.
Follow all the prompts, and send in the return request.
If your request is made within 30 days of your receiving the item, your seller will be obliged to send you a prepaid return label. After you receive the label, box up the item and use the return label to ship the item back to the seller.
After the item has been received by the seller, the seller has 4 days to refund you.
If the seller fails to refund you after 4 days, you can escalate the case through eBay, and eBay will deduct the refund from the seller's account.
Much easier and faster that all that extraneous communication between you and the seller and eBay.
So at this point I would also suggest that you escalate your refund request through eBay.
