No gift card balance after returning items with "gift card" selected as return method
I returned two items from two separate orders, both of them have been delivered to their sellers, but neither appear under "Payments" or as an option at checkout when trying to buy something.
For both orders, I received an email (5+ days ago) saying, "Your eBay eGift Card is ready for your next purchase. Your gift card will be available at checkout, and you can track your gift card balance in the Payments section in My eBay." And in both emails, under "Refund Method" it says "Gift Card" with a 9-digit number ending in "-X." I tried using these to manually add a gift card but it just says the number is invalid.
What gives? I'm supposed to send out two more returns tomorrow after already selecting gift card as the return method. But eBay is just eating my money instead, and there's no way even to contact customer support.

·9 months agoRefunds @michaelushka as eBay eGift Cards can be spent the same day you drop off your return, even before the package has left e.g. the post office.
Not many business days @12345jamesstamps after the return has already been delivered back to the seller.

·9 months agoThe drop off needs a 'scan' as dropped off and returned to the post office...did anyone scan it or did you just leave it on a counter or put in the drop off box?
Needs a 'scan' as a drop off.

·9 months agoeBay is very proud of its return process.
It even pops up a survey asking how you like it, while you're muddling through the new return screens.

Everything is usually refunded on business days...not holidays or Saturday or Sunday.
January 1st was a holiday...December 31st everything closed early...leaving only one business day since requesting a refund which was a Friday.
Maybe wait until tomorrow or Tuesday.

·9 months agoThose eBay promises "Your gift card will be available at checkout" are explicitly clear, but likely unresolvable even if you contact customer service.
How did you pay? If it was with a reversible payment method like PayPal or a credit card, contact your payment source, provide your returned tracking number, and get your refund.
And what if you need to return those items paid with your gift cards, or if customer service issues time-limited replacement gift cards for your missing balance? You'd add several more chapters to this saga.

OP9 months agoI hadn't thought to file a dispute via payment source—thanks for that! I'll give it a couple more business days and do so if nothing shows up.
