New Seller here first Inad questions

Customer purchased a dress. Submitted for a return starting Inad because the color was more orange than pink ( used stock photo) and in comments she wrong "oh and it doesn't fit". I'm happy to take a return for fit but because she did INAD is this going to go against me and am I going to have to pay shipping?

My eBay policy is 14 says to return for fit and customer pays shipping.

    Should I dispute?

Thanks. Yes I'm aware but I did wait at least until I had the shipping notification that it was tracking. So as far as I know it is on its way back to me.

For those of you that gave me constructive feedback and were kind. I want to report I read over the policies again, I also sent the refund to the customer before I even have the item back and send her a second kind message. She then gave me a positive feedback and made wonderful comments. She also messaged me and thanked me for being kind and said she would shop with me again because I handled it so well.

Also ....being a new eBay seller there is so MUCH to read and learn. Try to be gentle on newbies. Most of us are trying to do good, but it is the hardest platform to learn!

Just a note on your last post; when you refund first, the buyer isn’t required to return the item, and they actually can’t return it through the eBay system, so it’s likely you won’t get it back, if that matters.

As a new seller I was very hesitant to come here, and this is exactly why. I am learning. I do take personal responsibility and I am happy to refund the customer and take personal responsibility. I am learning. And someone convinced me to come here because they said community would be supportive and it would be a nice place to come to learn. This was my first question on this forum. Thank you to the people that were kind and gave me respectful honest answers

Try to ignore the not-so-nice comments.    Absolutely, it can be an unwelcoming atmosphere, but there are plenty of people that are here to help.

When you post a message here, you can expect to get, for the most part, honest replies.  In this case, some of those replies may have ruffled your feathers.  Regardless of that, people are trying to explain what happened, and how not to make the same mistake again.

From your message, it seemed like you were not sure how the NAD works and responders are trying to explain your responsibility in this case.

My recommendation was that you re-read the MBG so that you'd have a better grip on what eBay feels your responsibilities are.

    No need to dispute.

    Just have some PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.

If you use stock photos and the customer is misled, that is your problem to fix.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.104View listings

    @sylpottle

Don't even use stock images. Although ebay "allows" it, most companies' stock images are copyrighted and their own websites usually have a statement along the lines of, "our text and images for the use of our customers and are not to be used for commercial purposes." And certainly, using them in an ebay listing is for commercial purposes.

They could actually file VeRO/DMCA complaints for unauthorized use of their intellectual property.

And as you've learned, those copyrighted images may not be identical to the product your buyer will receive.

Show your own pictures (and write your own descriptions without AI) so the buyer will know that what they see is what they'll get.

It was the cover photo only. Which I won't even be doing that anymore. I do have the gut feeling because she put in comments it doesn't fit, she is using the pink/orange as a way to return it and pay no shipping. I sent her a nice reply and will happily take the return. I just was not sure about an Inad and how it works because it was my first.

May I respectfully suggest that you take just a moment to read eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers?

You may have missed some points the first time around.  Getting familiar with the item not received instructions for sellers will be helpful also.

Also, best of luck in your selling career on eBay.

Noting to dispute. They said the color doesn't match your listing photo so they have 30 days with the money back guarantee and you will be paying the return shipping.  Maybe take your own photos instead of using stock photos.

@sylpottle   You really need to read about eBay's Monday Back Guarantee. In this case, your buyer is in the right. Stock photos are against eBay policy unless you on the copywrite to them, which I'm sure you don't. You are in violation with eBay policy with all off those listings you have with stock pictures.

You run the risk of more issues if you continue to use stock photos.

Yes, the INAD return will be a mark on your account but it isn't a deathkill unless it keeps happening.

I do want to compliment you on the response you left the buyer who left a neutral feedback. I think your response was well-written and actually one of the best seller responses I've read. Your description of how you handled their complaint  was good as well. Great job.
