Need to change my return address on the label a seller sent me

Hi,
The address on my return label is incorrect. The address on the label was used while visiting a family member, and now the item I want to return is with me at my address in New York. There is no way for me to change it on the return details or when I attempt to print the label. The seller said the label came to them that way as well, so they cannot change it on their end. I have asked the Ai bot chat but I keep getting locked a circle and now way to change the label address. HELP!!!!

·1 month agoIf your buyer already has USED the label and shipped it back there is nothing you can do.
If your buyer has NOT yet used the label, you can ask them to tear it up and you will issue a new label. There is no need to actually cancel the label because you are not charged for it until a buyer actually uses it.
Then you can go to PayPal or some other source and create a shipping label, then email it to your buyer.
Keep in mind that you need to go to your Site Preferences and correct your addresses. You have several places in which to do this, so make sure they are ALL correct.

·1 month agoSellers assume a lot of risk, but that shouldn’t include intl return postage on what was a domestic sale. If you want to return the item, you should buy your own label.

·1 month agoSounds like you will need to ship it back on your own. Sellers are only required to send return shipping from the original address.

·1 month agoYou will simply have to 'pay' for a label, in person, where you are.
Then, record THAT tracking number to the return case.

·1 month agoThis is the only way to change an address on file. It is also something solely in control of a ebay registered user & is part of the user agreement.
On a side note - are you the buyer or seller? If the buyer, the only address that matters is the destination address to use it. You should be able to walk into (if USPS) any USPS location & just hand it over. They should charge postage to the account regardless

OP1 month agoI am the buyer and I have changed the address on my end in my account settings. How would they charge postage to the sellers account if I used the same label from a different state, or even country? I bought it in Japan, and had it sent in Japan. Now I am in the US, and need to send it back to Japan.

·1 month agoIn the case of international postage, a label is not processed through ebay. The seller would have to either issue you one directly or you would get a postage quotation with a carrier & provide that to the seller for a cash payment of the postage via paypal. However, since a label has been properly issued, in this case you are stuck. No adjustment would be possible as you were lax in changing the address prior.
Normally within the US, postage would be charged by USPS to ebay's account &with the tracking number it connects to the service & is charged back.

You did not say why you are returning the item but why did you bring it back to the U.S.? It seems like it would have been simpler if you had returned it to Japan while you were still in Japan instead of bringing it back to the U.S. with you. I hope it is not a "remorse" return.

OP1 month agoBecause the item I bought was a film camera and it was only found to be defective after time spent with the camera. There is no quick inspection of it -- one needs to find the special battery that turns it on, then test the camera with film inside, then develop and process the film to see if the camera works. Doing so went over the amount of time I was in Japan and asia in general. By the time I realized the camera didn't work properly I was already on my way back to NYC.

·1 month agoYou need to go into your account settings>click on address then change your address. The seller is correct they can't change it only you can change it.
