Need help or advise for a ebay international return

Shipped a item ebay international item went to italy was sent with a ebay international label item looks damaged like it was cut with i knife. Buyer wants a refund i figured ebay would resolve since it was shipped out by ebay but i was told to file a pipinsurance claim accept the return any help on this thank you

Yes it was shipped out ebay iternational label then i got a return request today i look up tracking it says 4 delivery attempts then finally delivered today. Ebay said to accept the return but i dont want this damaged item back do i just wait and let ebay step in?

Did you send it direct to the buyer in Italy or to an ebay hub in the US?

eBay may be correct that you need to file a claim. eBay has three different international shipping programs. Do you know the one you used? There is the following

eBay Global Shipping Program

eBay International Standard Delivery

eBay International Shipping

With eBay International Standard Delivery you do have to make a claim.
