Misleading sale from US but return is to China

My eBay experiences are eroding one at the time. I think I will be done sooner than later.

Short story short, I bough this item listed from US so I assume returns will be ok but of course not.  Not only I have to pay for shipping back for the return but I have to ship it to China and not to US as listed in the sale. Shipping to China will be a fortune of course which will cost more probably than the item itself.

Is this misleading, should I escalate it to eBay or just cut my losses and be done with eBay.  I can't believe this place got so toxic. Is not what it used to be anymore 😞

You received an item that's not as described, right? Per eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers, you can open an item not as described case within 30 days.  The seller will be required to send you a prepaid return label if he wants it back and to refund in full upon receipt of the return.

How about reading the Money Back Guarantee? It works well if used correctly and in a timely fashion.

ALL buyers owe it to themselves to read it and understand it.

He does have a return policy which is accepting returns but he will not provide a shipping label nor an address in USA.  I will pay for the darn shipping if in US.

Item / Part is defective so the reason for return.

I have no idea how to escalate this to eBay as there is no option on the menu. All the ask is a tracking number

Okay did you open an item not as described case? You have 30 days from last day of delivery to open that return. The seller is required to send you a return label to get their item back and give you a full refund.

Thanks for your reply.  Your answers indicate that you are eligible for a refund with the seller being responsible for paying for a return shipping label.

If you've opened a return request already ... then the link to ask eBay to step in will appear in your open request after 3 business days + 1 day.  [You won't be able to see the link until it's time to use it.]

If for some reason, you don't see the link after the above time has passed ... you can try contacting eBay, explain what happened so far, AND request a refund.  [There isn't a chance that a Chinese seller will provide you with money to ship the item ... either to China or to a US location ... at this point.]

And if contacting eBay doesn't result in a refund ... then phone your credit card company and request a transfer to their Fraud Department.  Explain that the seller misled buyers by falsely stating the item was located in the US ... and that they are now telling you to ship the item to China at your expense.  Request a chargeback.  That should do it.  ðŸ™‚

[DO NOT waste your time or money shipping the item unless your CC company tells you to do it.  It will NOT reach the seller and will NOT be keeping with eBay policy.]

Hi @ethanweisinger

As far as I know, eBay’s policy still is that if the Item Location is listed as the US … then the buyer is required to return the item to the US.  Period.  Full stop.

You haven’t mentioned what the listing’s return policy is … nor your reason for wanting to return the item.  Those will determine whether a return is possible and who pays return shipping.  The issue that IS clear, however, is that you do NOT have to return the item to China.
