Listing originally says returns through ebay global now under purchases says no returns
I purchased an expensive book from a UK seller that fell under ebay global shipping program. I bought the item thinking there were returns. After I bought the item under the purchased items it is listed sold with the tiny photo and item description, the price it sold for and then underneath it says breathe easy returns accepted under that it says how many people were watching the item before it sold. I took a screenshot of this page for future reference.
I got a better price on the book from another seller a couple of days later before this book has even arrived from the UK, however under the purchased items it now says no returns accepted.
What is going on here? Will ebay uphold the return description I had photo'd this is messed up I like buying items with return policies for these cases. I thought ebay global shipping items were covered by returns as well automatically, as this was the case and done in all of my sold listings that went overseas. Any help greatly appreciated, I have not contacted Ebay regarding this matter yet.

·2 years agoUnless something changed that is not yet in policy form, the existing policy as of now is:
ebay international shipping program
Returns and refunds
International legal requirements mean that buyers can return items sent by eBay International Shipping up to 30 days from the date the item is delivered to them, so we automatically apply a 30 day return policy for items shipped with eBay International Shipping. All eBay International Shipping returns will be processed on your behalf.
When a buyer opens a return, we'll refund your buyer and you'll keep the sale. When the return is received at the eBay International Shipping inspection hub, it will be inspected to make sure it's in the same condition. We'll then issue the refund to the buyer's original payment method, usually within 5 to 7 business days of the item being received at the hub. Returned items and items that couldn't be delivered to the buyer may not be returned to you.
If you receive negative or neutral feedback related to item handling during international shipping, we'll remove it.
Do not see anything about no returns allowed under any part of it. That said - always check the listing category before purchase as sellers try to defraud buyers playing games by selling items under no return categories.
Specific Global Shipping Program information seems to be intentionally gone or not easily locatable if that was the true program you used. Hopefully others can find that info for you.

·2 years ago@kalyoth, that information is about the eBay International Shipping Program, which is only available for sellers in the USA.
OP said that he ordered a book from the UK, which was shipped with the Global Shipping Programme, not EIS. I already provided a link to the policy on the eBay UK GSP.

·2 years agoThanks! ebay help was not helpful for me in locating information on it.

Here is the eBay UK help page about the GSP. I thought this might be helpful for you. There's an FAQ about how returns are handled that seems to be applicable to your situation, but I will let you read it and interpret it for yourself.

OP2 years agoOk, Thanks for all the replies guys.
I just spoke to ebay, there is a 30 day return window on the purchase since it falls under international shipping, hence the reason for my original purchase(always buying insurance).
While it says no returns on my ebay account purchases it does show up as returns accepted on ebays end and they will make the return for me if I am unable to start a return.
Bennotbill- the condition is a bit better on the new book purchased which was another reason, but I asked ebay and the rep told me it would be shipped to a hub before it is sent back to the buyer, she was unsure if the hub was US or UK based but as far as I know the GSP makes everything hassle free in terms of customs paperwork and what not so my guess is US hub. Anyway 30$ shipping to the UK, it would still be worth while for me.
Hope this helps. Thanks again for the replies.

·2 years agoThis is just a guess -
You are in the US.
The seller is in the UK.
The item is returnable for a buyer in the UK from the UK seller.
When GSP got involved and was shipping to the US, the item is non-returnable.
Especially for a remorse reason.
dangu6382
OP2 years agoThanks for your answer. Your guess is as good as mine.
When I sold under Ebay GSP it allowed returns for the buyers overseas however for US sellers I had no returns listed.
This is completely misleading and is horrible business practices by ebay as I have a photo of the breathe easy returns accepted under the listing. This is why I bought the item originally.
What is my recourse? ebay is closed at the moment but hopefully they stand behind the original returns accepted they showed me?

·2 years agoYou have a remorse return and I dont see a recourse.
GSP is like EIS in the US and once it goes to the hub for shipping it is out of the sellers hands.
EIS doesnt do remorse returns either.
The listing was for a UK item so the return was for UK.
On a remorse return you would pay shipping back to the seller and then the seller can also withhold the original shipping to you.
Since this went through GSP, there are no returns.
You may try contacting eBay on FB and see if you can get in contact with GSP.

·2 years ago@dangu6382 This is for EIS - GSP could be different.
You are also returning for "remorse" - found better price is remorse.

OP2 years agoKlhmdg-
I hear what your saying, as it falls under a remorse reason but then why did it appear on my purchases breathe easy returns accepted, I mean you cant just change an important buying characteristic like that.
For all of my ebay purchases when I saw this beathe easy returns accepted, "all" returns are accepted..
